So, Two years ago I had a miscarrige. I was 21. I just found out I am pregnant. I was VERY excited. I went to get an ultrasound and they said my right ovary was abnormally large. They warned me about a tubal pregnancy. I got really scared. Then they called me and said that my baby is in the uterus, but I have a cyst on my right ovary. It hurts sometimes and I am nervous that I had a miscarrige again or I have ovarian cancer. Both usually have signs of bleeding, but I don't. My obgyn is on vacation for another week and I'm very anxious. I am having a hard time sleeping at night. Which reminds me every night I wake up starving, should I eat a snack or just go back to sleep?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I saw my obgyn. She had no concerns about the cyst. We got an ultrasound done and saw the (flicker)heart beat. She also printed a picture for me. I have another appointment in 3 weeks and I am still a little nervous because I have no morning sickness. Maybe I'm just a lucky one:) Thank you everyone that responded, it was a big help!

The best thing for you to do is - relax - which is also the hardest!!!! I miscarried and a year later became pregnant. I barely told anyone because I was so afraid it would happen again. I now have a beautiful 6 month old boy. You might have 9 months ahead of you of worrying. Don't waste that time on worry! Enjoy being pregnant. Enjoy these first few moments of knowing that you are pregnant. If the worst happened and you do miscarry, I would TELL your Dr's that you want some testing done and don't ever give up. I felt very much like you did when I got pregnant the 2nd time. You will always worry! But the stress too, can be bad for your health. Hang in there and Congrats on your new pregnancy!

Hi M., if you are really anxious then see another dr. Your doc should have another doc available while she is gone. It can be bad for the baby to be getting real upset. Although you should know that cysts a very common, and hopefully it is nothing, and most likely is. The fact that you had a miscarriage could just be a coincidence. Most women have one miscarriage through their childbearing years. I did, you should def see someone so you can ease your mind. It is amazing what they can do today while you are prego. Good luck, and try to stay calm. And CONGRATS on your amazing news, I wish you all the best.

Hi M.,
I am pregnant too (for the fourth time). I miscarried the first pregnancy and now I have two beautiful daughters (ages 10 and 8). This present pregnancy was a complete surprise and I am feeling the same feelings as far as anxious about miscarrying again ect.
I am starving at night as well and I do eat every time. I would not hesitate on that one.
As far as your cyst, I would try really hard not to worry because worrying alone can cause problems. Just wait until your OBGYN is back and let her do the worrying....just get some rest and try not to think about it too much for now...and eat when you are hungry :0)
Take care and God bless!
Sincerely,
M.

Congratulations. I have had cysts on my ovaries for years. Even through 3 pregnancies. it was big and even irratating, but not serious enough to cause problems with the pregnancy. some women just have them more than others. and the food thing, gads, if your hungry eat. not alot, just enough to help you sleep. i used to eat every night at midnight lol.

good luck!!!

I know how you feel i had a misscarriage at 4 months and then i got pregnat with my second son a few months later. I am not sure if i slept the whole nine months. I often woke up hungry and i would have a healthy snack. If i didn't i wouldn't be able to sleep. Hang in there and make sure you talk to your ob about the feelings you have, it helps for them to know. Mine was more sensative to why i would freak out about about all things!

Ovarian cysts are remarkably common during pregnancy. Usually they resolve (go away) themselves. My OB discovered a 6 cm cyst during my first pregnancy. That's a fairly large cyst. It was monitored but didn't cause any problems during the pregnancy. It didn't go away so I ended up having surgery when my daughter was around 6 months old. It turns out the cyst had probably been there for years growing slowly and it was actually surrounding my fallopian tube. Luckily my OB was able to save the tube and the ovary, although I probably didn't need them since both of my children were from the other ovary and tube.

If you have a really large cyst that is causing a lot of pain then your OB may decide to drain it a bit. However, some of the pain you are feeling could be due to round ligament pain and not the cyst. The only pain I think I experienced from the cyst was in the last few weeks when my belly was huge and my daughter would move against it.

As for the night time hunger, I keep a box of saltine crackers and a glass of water on my bedside table so I don't have to travel to the kitchen at night if I'm hungry. This also helps with the morning sickness. I have a drink and a few crackers before I get up in the morning.

Good luck!

A.
