Combination Preschool/daycare

The best referrals are those made by other moms... I have a 3-year old boy who has been attending daycare since he was 12 weeks old. The daycare only runs for kids 0-5 and I'm noticing he is getting bored now that he is no longer the youngest, but rather one of the oldest kids there. He also goes to FasTracKids, an enrichment program because he was asking to go to school, but that's only 2 hours/week. I've been debating for the longest time now to make the switch from his current (home) daycare to a full time daycare in combination with a preschool, so more in a school-like setting (i.e. Montessori or something?). He seems to be ready for the switch. We live on the South side of Naperville (area 60564) and I would welcome any recommendations you might have. Thanks!!!!

So What Happened?

After reviewing all of your comments and visiting many schools we decided to enroll our son at Kensington on 75th. He'll be starting there September 1st. Thanks, everybody, for the valuable feedback!

I used to work for Tutor Time and they have a preschool program that they incorporate with the entire day of daycare. It's really a great place and all the teachers are wonderful. There should be one near you and you can check out the website at www.tutortime.com. Good luck in your search.

Hi M.
I have a friend that is a Kindergarten teacher and she has told me that in her experience, the kids that come to her class from KinderCare are the best prepared for kindergarten. I now have a nanny, but prior to that, my kids were @ KinderCare - they have a very structured day and learn all during the day. My kids thrived in that environment.
I live in Oswego, but as you know, there are KinderCare Centers all over. I would give them a call - they are very good about tours and talking about all of the programs they offer - Hooked on Phonics, Hooked on Math, they have a music program -- the center I was at had a martial arts co. that came in and gave lessons, dance lessons, etc...etc...of course - all of that is extra $$$$, but if you are interested, and can afford it - it is a great way to get some enrichment into your child's day.

Just joined this website and reading through postings. I just posted for a Preschool/Daycare. I live in West Chicago on Rt 59. Less than a 10 minute drive from I-88. I run a 9-1 preschool program exclusively, which also serves lunch, and then will be watching some of the children that need longer hours as well. My post can be found under Local Business Reviews under "P.'s Preshool". If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me! I have worked in the field of early childhood for 15+ years and have been in corporate day care, Montessori, have been a nanny and babysitter. I have my Early Childhood Education degree and a 2 1/2 year old myself. Thanks for your consideration! P. :)

My son goes to All About Caring in Warrenville, although my son is not old enough for the Preschool program, I believe they do have a preschool program there. They have more older children there so more your son's age, because they also offer before and after school care. The number over there is ###-###-####. They are right off Rt. 59 the next street after Butterfield in the strip mall near Dairy Queen.

It may be a little far for you but I recommend ABC Land Preschool in Darien. There are moms there that live in Romeoville and take their child there. It is a very nice environment with wonderful teachers. If you're interested the number is ###-###-####. Right now they are in there summer program but you can enroll now. Good luck.
