Hello Mothers,

Has anyone ever tried the Bowtrol, dual action cleansing or ever cleanse colon cleaning pills, if so how did it work for you?

What can I do next?

It's so funny that you would post this now, Cherie - I just asked my doctor about it myself. Here's what he told me: he doesn't believe there's a need for it at all, but said that if you're someone that only has a BM once a week or so that you might benefit from it. However, regulating the amount of fiber in your diet (like taking a supplement if need be) will do the exact same thing. He doesn't feel that it would harm you, but that it would be a waste of money. He also informed me that there has been no formal study done on this to find out just how beneficial it is - if at all.

I told him about the web sites that I had seen where these people actually sent in pictures of their "results" (as they called them) and he said of course it would look like that! The enzymes in your body continue to work to break everything down, but since they have you fast and drink this solution, there is no bulk from food to come out in your BM, thus the nastiness that you see in your toilet.

I was glad that I asked him about it and got a real medical opinion of it. After talking with him, I decided not to waste my money on it after all. Good luck to you with this. I hope you find the information you need to make the right decision for yourself. Happy Holidays!

Don't do a cleanse. It's a big fat scam. You don't need to clean your system out. If you are having issues such as constipation, gas, abdominal pain, etc...increase your fiber and water intake. You should be getting 25-35g of fiber per day. Most of us only get a fraction of that. Yogurt is a great way to stabilize the bacteria in your digestive tract, too. The 'cleanse' works by having you consume massive doses of compacted bulk fiber and water. These expand in your stomach and when it passes, makes it appear that you have had all of this 'stuff' in your system all along. It's just not true. There is no lining to shed, or worms, parasites, etc...as they would have you believe. Trust me, if you had these issues, you'd know it!

Case in point; if you do a prep for a colonoscopy (a very routine procedure) you will have to drink a prep solution about 24 hours prior. When you show up for the test, the doc will see a perfectly pink mucous lining with no leftover feces lingering. It doesn't take a 'cleanse' to get it all out. The point is...there is no buildup...if this simple drinkable solution can 'clean house' in a matter of hours, that's rock solid proof that there is no buildup of feces that needs to be removed. ...I guess I didn't make myself clear in the first go-round...so I hope that does a better job of explaining...from a medical standpoint.

PS...we do not carry a buildup of toxins in our bodies. Illnesses come from a virus or bacteria. Our bodies filter toxins through our organs, which is why if your liver is failing, you will become jaundiced, for instance. It's time some common sense be reintroduced to the way we take care of ourselves!

These things are not good for you. Please read about the warning signs. The best thing is to clean your diet and drink a lot of water and get exercise.

I definately say don't do it. I just took a microbiology class to become an RN and there are sooooo many bacteria in your GI system that you need. We actually discussed this in class and my teacher explained this and now I'm totally against anything like this. When you take this you are taking out more good bacteria than bad. I agree with the other post that says to eat more fiber, it will help to cleanse your system. Good luck!

I'd like to know what that is too. I've been wanting to try those kind of things too, but I don't know which ones are really good to try. Guess I could just ask my doctor to be sure. They might be better than a regular laxative. If anyone has advice on this, I'd like to hear it too.

By the way, the last comment about the "prep for colon test", that is a colon cleanser to clean out the whole colon for the test so there is no feces and they can better see if there are any lesions, polyps, etc.

HHmmmm- I've read differently than those who have responded so...if I were you, I would research. Go to LivingNutritional.com or google Matt Monarch and see what he has to say. Also Garden of Life has great suppliments etc and they have a cleansing system. Of course we have buildup (of toxins) that is why everyone is always sick! :) But Im not a doctor, nor have I researched this medically. Look up a Homeopathic provider near you and get a consultation (maybe one of those ladies are one and they know what they are talking about). Then you will know. After you figure it out, write a result so we can see!

I have not tried these pills and probably wouldn't. I do have colonics done 4x a year at The Center For Healing Arts on Vandyke and 18 Mile; this is very effective and after an hour of being there you are a new person! I also do The Master Cleanser 4x a year and as part of that fast, in the morning you drink one quart of water with 2 teaspoons of sea salt mixed together. Drink all at once and you will have an amazing colon cleanse...stay close to the bathroom for an hour! Natural, cheap and no pills.

HI Cherie
Myself I like to do everything as naturally as possible. So I would suggest changing your eating habits. Drink more water, eat less or no read meat, eat more veggies & fruit. Veggies have the best fiber and most of us don't eat enough of them.
Just do it safe and sensible.

Good luck, A.
