Clothing sizes...4T, 4, Etc. Tall Skinny 3Yr Old. Where to Find Longer Jeans???

Hello Mama's

My little girl is almost 3 1/2 and I am having a hard time keeping her in jeans that are long enough. Right now, just recently I bought her size 4T jeans from Children's Place and now they look about 1-2 inches to short. She is skinny so I already have to cinch the waist as small as it will go. But she is tall for her age. Any suggestions on where to find small waisted jeans with long lengths?

Thanks!

I get my jeans at Target and Walmart and there is always room to grow in the length ... Kohls also has a good selection of jeans.

My DS is the same way. I took him to Marshalls ( or TJ Maxx ) where they have many different designers. We took every 3T and 4T jeans, and he tried everyone on. THe only ones that fit him were a pair of Calvin Klein skinny jeans. He is now obsessed with them. But they are the only kind that fit him!
Edited after reading people's advice not to buy "T" size. I disagree with this, without the T the pants are really big, atleast for my son.

My son has the same probelm. He is in a boys 7 for length, but is about a 5T in the waist. I buy jeans from Old Navy for him. In boys-sized jeans(nothing under 4T) they have slim, regular, and husky to accomadate different body types along with the elastic tabs and bottons to make the waist smaller. I'm not sure they have this for girls, but check it out. If not, you could try a boy's jean. Won't be girly looking, but the plain straight leg jean would fit well.

What about those cute iron on cuffs for kids jeans? I know it sounds cheesy and weird, but there are some really cute ones. I think I actually saw an advert for them on Mamapedia.

Gap makes adjustable waist jeans that work great. I've always found them to be on the long side as well.

I have the same issue with my daughter... her waist fits the 3-4T yet he needs the 5T-6 length. I'm a bit peeved that they make the husky fit for overweight children but not a long and lean or short and lean children who are normal weight to a bit more petite yet the regular height or a bit taller.

We try to find adjustable waistbands - which aren't easy to find since no one brand makes them consistently.

Bergners sells slim jeans. They looked much more natural on my son.

Some bands (levis, Old Navy, and a couple of others that I can't remember right now) have slims. My daughter is the same way. She is 5 and her 3's still fit in the waist but needs at least a 4 (sometimes up to a 6 for the length). I will be back to see what other brands people list.

I have found that the adjustable waists are good, but only if the child is close to the next size up anyway. If (like in my case) there is a 2 to 3 size gap, the pants get all bunched up in the back and they look worse than if they were too short. My daughter spends a lot of time in dresses and skirts for this very reason (with the footless tights and socks)

I found the Children's place clothing to be more for shorter, rounder kids. It's very hard to find talls for kids that don't cost a fortune. Some stores only sell them online. My kids are now teens - so I'm not sure if these still hold true - but it's worth a try: Walmart used to have tall sizes, and Old Navy had them at one point, but seem to only sell them online now. At one time Target used to have tall sizes - but I don't think they do anymore.

It does get easier to find tall sizes when they're teens - and even though that seems a long way away, if she's tall she'll be in teen sizes in a the blink of an eye! That's a whole new problem though becuase she'll be in 4th or 5th grade and the only clothes she'll fit into is Junior styles which can be very provacative... JCPenny's saved us many times during that era!

I would avoid the 4T's because I believe the T means they have diaper room. If she is skinny to begin with you don't need that extra room.

I know Target jeans do come slim but I am not sure starting with what size.

Jeans are hard to fit at any age. My girls always gravitate towards Gymboree leggings for ultimate comfort.

I'd go for a 4 slim from the same place.
the slim is the skinny part, the waist will be skinnier and the legs the same length
also many have elastic in the waist with buttons to make it smaller as well.

Target sells jeans with adjustable waists. You can buy a larger size to fit in length and adjust the waist to fit.

Toddler clothes are for short wider children still in diapers or pull ups. Go to girls wear and find some size 4 slim jeans. They should also have the cinch waist in them if they are too wide. We bought ours at Walmart in girls wear.

My sister, a long time ago, her daughter is in her 30's, could only by jeans at C. R. Anthony's. She got the Arizona jeans in tall/slim or extra slims. We got all her hand me downs when my daughter was that size. Some stores will carry the taller slimmer jeans but you may have to call around.
