Well I am on my 3rd month of clomid and I am getting really discouraged. My cycles have been running 39-40 days and I am following the directions - period - 5th day start clomid - "happy" time between the 14-19th day after start of period. My question is am I doing something wrong? Is the "happy" time not right because my cycles is 39-40 days? Please help... Thanks.

What can I do next?

All phases of the menstrual cycle can vary from woman to woman, and even month to month. But based on the length of your cycle it is possible your "happy days" are being celebrated too early. I would definitely try the ovulation predictor tests this month if you have not been doing that already. From what I have heard the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler is a wealth of valuable information and has helped many women understand their cycles better, thereby increasing chances of conceiving. It is pretty cheap on amazon, or maybe you can get it at your local library. Also, it would be worth asking your doctor for timing recommendations. But since everyone is different, his/her advice is just a small piece of the puzzle. It is really best to be able to recognize your own body's signs of ovulation. I wish you the best of luck.

I don't really have advice. It's been too long for me to remember the details, but I was on Clomid for a long time. I did want to offer support. Dealing with infertility and the treatments is so incredibly draining, physically and emotionally. I hope you see results soon. :-)

my cycles were 3 months apart when they put me on Clomid in 2001. my first cycle was 6 weeks, so he upped my dose. my next cycle was 5 weeks, so he told me to take it on a different day. He told me I ovulate on day 10, so I needed to have sex around day 10 to get preg. (yeah, I didn't have a 3rd cycle - I got preg!!!!) You can ask when they think you ovulate or get an ovulation prediction kit. Also, be sure your partner has 2 -3 days worth of "goodies" to deposit. Good luck!

I took Clomid for one month before conceiving my twins. I recommend also using an ovulation kit. We did because I thought that if I was going through the trouble of taking Clomid, I wanted to be sure we were going to get pregnant. You need to know when you are ovulating. I used Clear Blue Easy, and it worked for us.

Good luck!
