My husband just installed wood laminate flooring in our downstairs. I haven't cleaned it yet because I'm scared that I will damage it. What do you guys use or how do you clean your wood laminate floors?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a Bona. They're awesome. Love mine! They make a solution that you spray on the floor specifically for laminate floors and tile. Get the spray and the mop and you'll be set.

Mowhawk makes a hard surface cleaner that you can buy by the gallon on Amazon, I'm not a big fan of specializes cleaning products, but we are very happy with this cleaner.

We use a product called Bona, which I usually buy at Bed Bath and Beyond but sometimes see at Target, too. They make one specifically for laminate floors, so make sure you get that and not the one made for real hardwood.

You won't damage it. I have had laminate floors for at least 15 years and it still looks great. You can clean it with water if you want. I use my Shaklee Basic H2. If something really yucky gets on the floor I was told when I first bought it that I could use nail polish remover to get a spot off, and I have done that on the rare occasions when needed. It didn't hurt it at all.

It will scratch, but it's a floor! It still looks nice. Most people think it is hardwood.

Bona.
Home Depot has it.

It is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and non-toxic.
Bona, is a VERY good product for wood floors.
And easy. Very, easy, to use.
I love it.
This is what you should use.

There should have been a product info sheet, with the product you bought- To tell you about upkeep and care, for the flooring you bought.
Or simply ask your local Home Depot store.

With wood laminate flooring.... do NOT use a lot of water, nor standing water, etc. Otherwise, your floor will delaminate and get ruined. ie: it will split into layers and/or buckle. Laminate flooring is made up of layers of wood or engineered wood. The top most layer being the "wood" veneer. The veneer is very thin.
ONLY use, a very barely damp mop, if anything, if you feel you must "mop." And any water or liquid that spills onto the floor, MUST be mopped up and dried right away.

Use a Swiffer daily to dust the floor. If you must.

Laminate flooring, is already "finished." Meaning, it has a finish on it already. It is finished, wood. Typically, and/or a Polyurethane or some type of varnish or Varathane, can be applied, to seal it further. But still, it is not waterproof.

I have the shark steam mop, it works great. No chemicals and easy to use. I have also used the swifer mop, that works just fine too. Neither one damage my wood laminate floor. (hubby installed ours too)
