I don't think it really matters how much you dilute it. I usually do 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Or if I'm soaking my coffee cups or tea pots - 50/50. You can clean pretty much anything - counters, appliances, walls, mirrors, etc. I've never used it on my wood floors though.

White vinegar (not cider vinegar, which is brown and could stain some surfaces, plus its odor lingers longer, I think). Dilute as you need - I would seldom use it straight. Depends on the job. For wood floors, I would use maybe a cup of white vinegar to three or four cups of very warm (not hot) water, but it just depends. I tend to rinse after using vinegar on wood floors and tend to use vinegar on the floors only for spot cleaning. It was recommended by the folks who installed the floors, by the way!

Put vinegar and baking soda down the sink drains -- yes, make a "volcano" mix right there in the drain to clean it! Or just pour vinegar (straight) down it occasionally to clean and get rid of odors. Leave it and much later, pour boiling water down. Recommended by a plumber!

I would not use vinegar on a painted surface, but that's me. Maybe a very mild solution. I have used it on mildew as an alternative to bleach-based cleansers, but it doesn't work on tough mildew so go with bleach cleansers there.

I would test vinegar solutions in small, hidden spots of items or surfaces you want to clean. If all goes well, use it in a bigger way after testing.

I use it on my wood floors and painted cabinets. I am not sure of the correct mixture - I just guestimate the amount that I add to the water.

I use half vinegar/half water in a spray bottle for kitchen surfaces, stove top, and glass. Also, a solution of half vinegar/half Dawn (microwave it for 30 seconds or so - it mixes better if it's warm) will clean the soap and hard water residue off of a glass shower door, or a tile shower wall. Just spray, let sit a couple of hours, and then rinse it off whenever you take a shower. A quick swipe with a washcloth, if you have a hard time rinsing it, but you don't have to scrub.

I also use vinegar in the liquid fabric softener spot in my washing machine. It takes about 1/4 cup of straight vinegar - soft laundry, very little static, no smell at all, no dryer sheets required. (Oddly, the washing machine will smell a little like vinegar, but the laundry won't.)

I use it often - I am one to just dump some in and dilute it with water. Don't really measure. However, I don't necessarily like my whole house smelling like vinegar after cleaning...Do others do anything to compensate for that smell?

It works great on our laminate wood flooring! :-)

I use a mixture of Shaklee's Basic H (an allpurpose concentrated soap) with 1 part vinegar 3 parts water. I have it in a spray bottle and use it on everything.

I use 2 cups water, 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/2 tsp Dawn for windows and mirrors.
You can use vinagar and water only but if the windows have been cleaned with a commercial cleaner then they have a kind of waxy film on them and you need to remove it with the mix I do. I just clean with that mixture all the time.

I keep 50/50 white vinegar/water in a spray bottle and in my Swiffer tank. I use it to clean the stove and counter tops, painted cabinet doors, bathroom surfaces, glass, wood laminate and tile floors. For toilets, I dump about 1/4 cup of baking soda in the water and then pour in a cup of straight white vinegar, let it foam up, then brush and flush.
The vinegar smell dissipates quickly. Sometimes if I want it gone faster, I light scented candles or incense.
