Hi Moms, I have many silver pieces of jewlery that have tarnished and I'm wondering what is the best way (product) to get the color back to silver? I would like something to soak them in since the cleaning cloths don't seem to get into the grooves. Thanks moms!

In the jewelry section at Target or Walmart there is a silver jewelry liquid that you dip your pieces in - it works wonders. Then the silver jewelry polishing cloths are awesome for regular touch ups.

Place a piece of aluminum foil in your dishpan, add 2 tablespoons of Calgon water softner and 1 tablespoon of salt, add 1 quart of very hot water and stir untill it is disolved. Place your silver items into the water touching the aluminum foil. Silver items should be clean on contact. Then rinse under warm water and buff dry.

google "silver polish". I did this and got a recipe for making your own solution. You line a glass dish with foil, put in baking soda and salt (I'm not 100% positive, so look it up to make sure). Pour in hot water and place the silver pieces on the foil, touching each other. I think you can leave them in for 5 minutes (again, I'm not positive).

I don't know if you've already done it or not, but I wouldn't recommend dipping your jewelry in a liquid cleaner. I am a Silpada Designs Rep. and I have seen several people ruin their sterling silver that way. We sell treated cloths for $5 (and portion goes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). That's the way to go. You just simple rub it with the cloth and shine it back up to looking like new. If there are little areas that you can't get into, then I recommend asking around to see if any of your friends has a jewelry cleaning machine, or going to a jeweler and just asking them to drop it in their cleaning machine for a minute. Many will do it for you.

They have sterling silver cleaning clothes available. I get mine from a Silpada rep. They work great and I'm sure you can find some at target or kmart or wallmark or maybe even homedepot.
