Hi I am a stay at home mom and have been for the past three and a half years. I'm considering trying to make a little extra money during the week by cleaning a few homes. I'm not quite sure how to get started or even what a reasonable price to charge would be. I have two little boys and I would occasionally have one of them with me. He is 20 months old, so I'm trying to figure out if that would be a problem. I'm looking for ideas on how and where to start this. Would it be right to assume that I would bring my own supplies to clean the homes? I was thinking $35 per home ---I'm just trying to get some feedback. If you have a cleaning service how much do they charge? What do they do for that price? And any other additional info Thank You!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for the feedback. The consensus seems to be that $35 is def too low, Thank you! I talked to a few other women and everyone is in agreement that around $50 would be a acceptable rate for someone who is just starting out. Thanks again,
D.

I think the money depends upon the size of house, and how the house is kept. Are you a fast cleaner, and are you good? How long does it take youto clean your whole place and how big is it? If the house is kept clean and organized, you can clean it quickly and easily rather than if it is messy and too dirty. We have had cleaning done all the time, and some people bring their own supplies (you may need industrial style or stronger chemicals) and some used the stuff from my home. Supplies can make $5 to $8 difference, if you are using yours or owners. I live in Seffner, and would be willing to try you also, if you are interested. I think for an average, a 4 BR/3 BA room should take close to 3 hours to clean and you will get $50 or so. I think $35 is low. I won't mind brining your son, but some people may.

I ALSO THINK 35 IS LOW I HAVE A FRIEND WHO PAYS 65 AN HOUR BUT THERE ARE 2 LADIES THAT COME OUT AND SHE GETS THE FLOORS MOPED, BATHROOMS CLEANED (3), AND ANYHTING ELSE THEY CAN FIT IN THE HOUR.

I ALSO PAY MY FRIEND TO CLEAR OUR HOUSE BECAUSE I WORK FULL TIME AND MOST PLACES YOU HAVE TO BE HOME FOR THEM TO CLEAN BUT WITH HER SHE HAS A KEY, AND SHE CLEANS MY BATHROOMS (2)MOPS MY KITCHEN, HALL AND BATHROOMS, VACCUMES, AND WHAT EVER SHE CAN FIT INTO THE HOUR, AND I PAY HER 50, BUT HER HOUSE IS LIKE 3200 SQ FT AS MINE IS 1680 SQ FT SO THAT THE DIFFERNECE YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT AN HOURLY CHARGE MAYBE SO IT WILL BE FAIR FOR YOUR TIME AND MONEY, I DO KNOW THAT HER SERVICE BRINGS THERE CLEANING SUPPLIES BUT SHE HAS THEM USE SOME OF HER STUFF THAT HAS BLEACH IN IT FOR LIKE THE BATHROOMS ECT.

HOPE THIS HELPS

I think that is a wonderful option. Have you considered other options? I was in the same boat as you! I run a daycare and after my second son was born, I knew I wanted to do something different. I've been on the search for 2 years, and I have finally found it. I work for myself from home, yet i have a great team of support. I'm part of Internet CEO Moms. We don't carry inventory, and it's not MLM which I think is GREAT. Visit my website for free information! http://www.internetceomoms.com/mommymakingmoney I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Hi D.-
I was looking for a cleaning person but it has temporarily been put on hold. :( Very temporarily!!! :) I think $35 is low. We are willing to pay $50 twice a month and we are willing to provide the supplies b/c we need them in the home anyway. If there is something specific you like to use to clean then we will provide that. I don't have a problem with you bringing your son, but I am not sure if everyone would feel that way. He can watch TV or play in my sons room. Our home is 4 bedroom, 2 bath and we would like the bathrooms completely cleaned, vacuum the entire house, mop the kitchen and baths, plus entryway which is small and dust every other time. Windows every other time too. I think that is it. But $35 is low for a cleaning and you may have some large homes. I will be in touch, or let me know what you think. Thanks so much! G.
