What is the best way to clean hardwood floors? I read a vinegar to water mixture and a mop. I don't really have to mop do I, lol:). Thanks! Is there a swiffer or machine that can so it more efficient?

What can I do next?

The brand "Bona" makes a great non-toxic environmentally friendly wood floor cleaner which you can get at Home Depot and it leaves no residue.

I just use the shark steam mop on my hard woods. I do it about once a week. I just did it last night actually and they look amazing!

Hardwoods are easy.

Water and vinegar is fine.
Swiffer with the hardwood floor liquid.

You don't need to "wash" them weekly or even daily. You can use the Swiffer DRY DUSTER on them to pick up dirt and pet hair.

I used to use vinegar and water (with a drop of dawn) with a soft cloth on my hands and knees to do my hard woods.
I'm older now. I use a spin mop with the same vinegar and water combo.
I have used a sniffer, but it leaves streaks.

My sister got me hooked on Bona. LOVE it! You can buy it at Lowe's or Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

Mostly I just vacuum mine. When I do mop it, which is rarer than it should be! ;), I use Method's hard wood floor cleaner or Murphy's soap mixed with water. I have a mop that is like a Swiffer but it has reusable pads instead of disposable ones but you could easily use a regular one. Vinegar and water would be okay but I prefer the clean look and smell of those other cleaners.

Don't know if this is good or not, but my MIL uses WD40 and a dry cloth to clean hers with.

It really depends upon how gross they are.

If they're really bad, yes...you need to mop every couple of weeks. To get to a point where you're just maintaining them in between.

To maintain, I like to use a wide dustmop. It's like a super big swiffer with a reusable cloth cover. You can find them at Lowes or Home Depot or maybe Walmart. I first "swiff" up all the dirt and debris, shake it out, and then use a hardwood floor cleaner/shine.

The Bona stuff is the best. Even better is don't! The less you mop, the better. Dry swifter, vacuum, or dust mop often.
