Church Recommendation

I live in Roseville with my 1 year old, 4 yr old & hubby. I'm looking for a church for support, inspiration and for my kids. My husband works long hours and weekends, I would like to find a church community but am having a hard time finding the right fit. I was raised Catholic and enjoy the music and traditional aspects of it but disagree with sin amongst other things, I believe we are perfect and God/spirit is in each of us, we may forget our perfection at times, but I don't want my kids growing up feeling like a sinner. I felt really comfortable in the Unitarian services in Roseville but they are so small, there is no daycare and it just became to hard with 2 little ones, so we stopped going. Buddhism & religious science are both intriguing to me but there are no services close by, I enjoy the spiritual, meditation aspects of it. I tried an Episcopalian church where I enjoyed the services, music and daycare, but I started to get pressure to baptize my kids, which isn't necessarily out of the question, but I had just started going and I don't want to be pressured. I am not interested in pentecostal services, hardcore missionary churches or the mormon church. I am open to most any place that has a life application message, I know I may not agree with all with what a church may teach, I would just like to find a church that feels right in my community. I would love to hear any recommendations of churchs in this area. Thanks, K.
p.s.-I apologize if I've offended anyone, I do believe there is a religion for each of us and no one better than the other. I don't want to open a can of worms just trying to explain my beliefs to help me find the right fit for myself and my family.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,

We have been going to Bayside Church in Granite Bay for 4 years now and we love it!!! It is a BIG church, but has great classes for youth and we always leave feeling inspired by the message we hear. If you want to feel more connected to the church since it is so big you can join a small group.
Hope this helps!

We've been members of Adventure Christian Church in Roseville/Rocklin for 8 years
www.adventurechurch.org
We love it. It is non-denominational, casual, everyone is welcome. The messages are very life-application oriented. Services are 9am and 11am Sundays, and children's programs from infant through high school are offered at all services. It is a big church, which can seem overwhelming on your first visit, but there are lots of ways to get connected and get to know people, so don't let the size intimidate you :-) Best wishes in finding a church family!

Hi K.!
I know it is a little ways, but I love Trinity West Sacramento. It's presbyterian, but not the traditional reformed as so many area presybterian churches are. We preach acceptance and love and do our best to accept others the way they are. website is trinitywestsac.org we have a growing group of young families and provide childcare for most other activities (bible study, etc.). My own kids are in the kids' choir and I go to the adult bible study that is at the same time. I love their music and always feel refreshed after services. Hunting for the right church home is a process. Have faith and take your time! :) jennie

Hi K.,

Abundant Life is a great church! I see someone already gave you their information. I really liked that church when I went. I really wanted to find something closer to me though and there is one called "Living Way Community Church" which is also a non-denominational church. They have great music and classes for each age level as well as free daycare. Here is a link to their website and directions.

Hi K.,
We love Sheperd Of The Sierra(SOS). It is a presbyterian church located at 5400 Barton Road, Loomis 95650. It's very close to Sierra College. My husband is a "former catholic". He was completely against going to church but after the birth of our 1st child he decided he should put aside his beliefs and explore the options again. I grew up a non-practicing Presbyterian and was open to suggestions. So we went to lots of different churches and types of services and when we found Shepherd we knew we had found our church home! One if the things we like most about the church is how welcoming the members are. The church is not so big that we felt like we were just a place holder. There is child care and sunday school. Services are at 10 am on Sunday. The music is a mix of traditional and more contemporary. We Presbyterians like to sing! Our pastor, Dave Ratcliff, gives great sermons that always seem to speak to me and leave me to decide how I feel about that days particular bible lesson. I think the best way to sum it up is end with a glimpse of what we believe. SOS "welcomes you as a child of God regardless of your background, doctrine or theology", "Equips you to live as Christ has called you with joy, enthusiasm and love" and "sends you into the world to share the love, compassion and healing of Christ with a world in need." Whew! Hope that helps and good luck with your spiritual journey.
