Hi has anyone had a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's recently? Is it worth it? I'm thinking of having my son's 4th birthday party there but just wanted some opinions on their experiences.

What can I do next?

If the birthday is sometime really soon, I'd think that most parents are staying clear of places like that because of all the viruses going around right now. I know with my two, they wanted to go a couple of weeks ago and I said no. There are just too many flus out there this time of year, especially with the H1N1

Hi S.!

I haven't had a party there, but as someone that has attended a few at Chuck E. Cheese, I would say no. It is really loud and no one can hear themselves think. Most of the games are not geared for preschoolers (unless they have made changes since the last time I was there). I would still check it out, but I have another idea for you if you live in the Medina area.

I just had my 5 year old daughter's preschool b-day party at Rockin R.'s Amazone in Medina. It is a large jungle gym type thing (think McDonalds' play land times 10!), and the general set-up is better than Chuck E. Cheese's. It also has an arcade and laser tag, but they are in a separate area from the jungle gym. They have party tables there and food, etc. and they let you bring in your own cake.

We held the party on a Friday after preschool; school let out at noon, everyone was on there own for lunch and we had the party from 1:30-3:30. It was a great way to keep the costs down (i.e. I didn't have to pay for all of the kids and their parents to eat!) and let the kids unwind from school before charging them back up again! We paid for all of the kids from hr preschool class and siblings were welcome at the parents’ expense.

You can check them out online if they are in your area at http://www.myamazone.com/. Whether it is right fit for you, I don’t know, but I totally get the not wanting to hold it at your house thing. The kids loved Amazone (they are still talking about it!) and it was quick and easy. Good luck in your decision!

We have our grandchildren's birthday parties there. You can get their party plan which is more expensive, or you can just get a cake for $10.00 which includes an appearance from Chuck E Cheese, but you don't even have to do that, you can bring your own cake if you want. We usuaully just order the food separately and find a table in the back and let the kids play. The kids like it and you leave the mess there. If you are inviting his playmates you will want to buy them some tokens too. If you go on a week day or evening there is hardly anybody there. Weekends are more crowded.

Hi, I just had my daughter's 4th B-day there this week. If you go online you can get one time offer coupons. I got 200 tokens for $25 which I thought was really good and we did a "walk in" B-day party that way we didn't have to pay $10.99 a kid. Here's the catch! It was $15 each for a large cheese pizza and we were charged $25 for 14 cups!! So if i wouldn't have paid for the cups the bill wouldn't have been that bad. You can bring your own cake in. Hope this helps. My total bill was $121. Depending on what you want to spend is up to you, but I think for awhile we're going back to "at home" B-day parties! Have fun!

I don't have any experience with the actual parties that you can get there, but we've taken our son there 3 years in a row. We go, get our own pizza & tokens, and have a great time. I can get bored pretty quickly, but it's not about me. My kids (and husband, lol)have a great time. If there are any shows going on, you can still see them even if you aren't in the reserved section.
Go and have a great time.

Way expensive. Better off going for pizza at your favorite place and then just taking the kids to see a show or to an arcade.

Hi, S.,
My children always enjoy going to a party at Chuckie's, but they're a bit older than yours, so they can do a lot more than the younger ones can.

The Tot Spot in Wadsworth does private birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays, everything from mailing out the invites to writing the thank you notes. The only thing you have to supply is the cake and the guest list. www.cjtotspot.com.

Happy birthday to the little guy!

My friend just had her little ones party there and they seemed to rush the party. The party started at 6 and and by six thirty they brought pizza out which was fine but within 10 minutes they were wanting her to sing happy birthday and the kids barely ate 2 bites of the pizza. It just might have been the one we went to but I would not have my kids parties there.

My son and daughter both have had several birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese. I totally think it is well worth the money. Each child gets pizza, drink, cake, and tokens. If you book your party online you can usually earn extra tokens and if you have the party on a weekday rather than a weekend, they will give each child more tokens. We have had parties at Build-A-Bear, Bouncertown, and Bowling Parties...all are much more expensive when considering what you get. I definitely think you get more bang for your buck at Chuck E and my kids have alway had a blast!

We went when our twins turned 4 for their birthday, but not an actual birthday party. I am a family of 6 and I don't hold "friend" birthday parties until they turn 5 so we kept it simple. What I would suggest is calling and inquiring about them, and getting on their email mailing list. We get coupons sent to us and it made it a lot cheaper for us. The only thing it left out was the treat bags, being up by the show which they wouldnt have sat still for anyway, and I think meeting Chuckie which my boys would probably have been scared of. It was a great idea for us and my daughter is 7 and is hoping for a party there sometime too, but we live too far away from one to expect friends to drive to.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't have my child's birthday party anywhere that snotty kids are running around during cold-and-flu season:( With H1N1 running ramped and the seasonal flu gearing up within the next month or so, I would just through a low-key party at my house and Lysol everything before and after they play with it!
