Hi, If you don't mind sharing, I am wondering what Christmas family traditions you have. We hang a picture of our two boys on our x-mas tree every year in an ornament with the year on it. Although, my boys are still small, it is pretty neat to see how they've grown and changed over the years. I am also thinking of buying a clear glass ornament (hopefully I can find one) and writing on pieces of paper memories of this year, and plan on doing this every year going forward. Please share your traditions! Thx!

Every year we give our kids an ornament to open on Christmas Eve to put on the tree that night. The ornament signifies something that has happened that year (a Santa riding a bike might have us remember that this is the year that our child learned how to ride his bike) I've always loved seeing what I would get when I was growing up. Now I have a little plastic tub for each child and a little notebook so they can look back at it too with adding any special comments. Then when they get married :( they can take their ornaments and have them for their tree.
S. (by the way make sure to have the year on the ornament)

i am buying one ornament each year for each of my three kids to have for their own trees when they (boo-hoo-hoo!) leave and get their own places. they will each have a box of their own and will hopefully remember their own christmases growing up when they hang them. M.

Hello M.,
Ever since each of my children was born, we have bought them one ornament per year, which will be their to take with them when they grow up, so they will start out with a collection of ornaments for their own tree.
We make a party out of trimming the tree, with festive music and yummy snacks.
On Christmas Eve, there is always a Christmas story, things like Twas The Night Before Christmas, The Grinch Stole Christmas, Gift of the Magii, etc.
Enjoy forming new traditions for your own family

whenever we go anywhere special, we buy an ornament there to remember it. although a lot of our ornaments will be taking a break this year due to my 2 year old being a destructive force like i have never encountered before, our tree is usually,,, and will be again, a big memento of our lives and special times together, and as we hang them we take a walk down memory lane.... so far, most of the stuff is before the kids were born, or at least before they remember, and we tell them the stories of those too

My MIL makes new ornaments every year with the tag on them for the year. We hang those all every year.
I also change the color of my tree every year.

Other than that, we don't do many traditions... i kind of wish we did but I'n not that creative when it comes to that stuff.

Our girls our young (9 mo. and 2 1/2) so we're just starting traditions...that said, some things we're starting; I'm going to make homemade cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning...no particular reason except to make the house smell really yummy and make it something to look forward to! Also, planning on picking up a journal and recording some thoughts/memories/moments into it this year, pack it away with our Christmas stuff and build on it in subsequent years...I think the girls will get a kick out of reading it each year before we add to it as they get older. Lastly, my parents always read the biblical Christmas account every Christmas morning... as a kid I just wanted to get to the gifts, but now I appreciate that they did that!
