I am trying to decide which camera to choose? Does anybody have experience with either camera and their pros and cons? Thanks so much:)

What can I do next?

I love my Nikon D60 -- a little big sometimes to take around with us, but it takes such great pictures and I no longer miss the cute smiles because of digital delay. I have no experience with the Canon, but I know we (meaning my husband) considered both before we bought the Nikon.

I've also heard you should go to a store and hold them. Its a huge investment and you really want to love it!
I was also deciding between the Nikkon and Canon. I went to every web site and read every review. Basically I went and felt them and took pictures. For me I liked the Canon better. It's so much fun to take pictures now and I love the sports thing. It's fun to take rapid fire pictures.
Oh yes, one thing I heard that differentiates them is their auto settings. A lot of people said they used the auto settings on the Nikkon for a bit and then just turned it off and figured it out themselves. The Canon supposedly has better auto settings and I just wanted something that was good and maybe when I get better I can change the settings, but until then I need something I can just take pictures with without having to mess with it.
I just barely got mine a week ago and so far its been a lot of fun.

I have a Canon S5IS which is not an SLR, but is an AWESOME camera! I LOVE it. I have had several Cannons over the years, and I have loved them all. Cannon makes a great camera.

Hi again!
I'm a Nikon girl so you know know which one I would go with... but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best choice for everyone.
When I first started out I bought a D70. I did a ton of research between that and a Canon model and what it came down to was that the Nikon felt better in my hands. So definately take a trip to Best Buy or another camera store to hold them.
Don't get me wrong... Canon makes a fantastic camera but the lower level models like the Rebel are really light weight... and my theory was, if I was going to pay that much for a camera I didn't want it to feel like a throw away (and a Canon is by no means a throw away camera... I just prefer some weight in my hands).
Also... take into account what lenses you want to get later on and which has better quality and prices for down the road.
In my career as a photographer I've probably spent twice as much on lenses as I have on cameras... and I just upgraded to a D300 so that should tell you something. :)
Good Luck in your decision!

Oh... and if you want to check them out side by side a great website is www.dpreview.com. That should give you an idea in the difference in features and they've got TONS of reviews.

I got the Nikon D60 because of the price. I got a SMOKIN' deal on it at Cameta Camera. If you want details, you can send me a private message.
The advice I got was that it just doesn't matter which you choose. You'll love either one.
I also got the advice to go hold them in your hand and you might like the feel of one better.
Also, if you want some help once you get the camera, I've found some great resources on Digital Scrapbook Place. It's all about scrapbooking, but you have to take great photos to have a great scrapbook page. So there's a forum all about photography, and there are both Canon and Nikon girls represented. There are forum moderators that really really help you step it up, learn how to use your camera better, and will help you trouble shoot (like when suddenly all my photos were blue!)

When I bought my DSLR, I found this website to be very helpful in choosing: http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/

I ended up with the Nikon D40X (the D60 is the newer version and is a little faster) and I absolutely love it! I've never used the Rebel so I can't compare. I don't have any complaints about my Nikon.
