I have heard before that Chiropractors can help children with frequent ear infections. I wanted to hear from other mom if they have tried this or have heard of this and what is involved. Just curious my two year old has tubes, but have another baby boy that may begin to have the same problems and I want to see if other treatments were available to help. Thank you!

It's the first thing I would do, as my daughter went through a series of ear infections that could have resulted in tubes if I hadn't gotten her to the chiropractor as soon as I did. My Chiropractor is fantastic!! She has young children also, and her office is amazing to deal with!! Her name is Dr. Melissa Shelton - she is in the Plano/Frisco area at Preston and Hedcoxe. Her number is ###-###-####.

I have heard of this and I know a great chiro that specializes in Pediatric Chiropractic care. You can find their web site at http://family-wellness.com/. They are located in Bedford. I would at least schedule a free consultation and see if this great, husband and wife team can help your children. Good luck!

Yes~! It does work and I would highly recommend it. I didn't do it in this area...so I can't give you any names. I would for sure check into it for your little one. I would also try to stay away from too many antibiotics. If you go back in the archives on Mamasource...I believe that this question was asked before. I know several people gave names of Chiropractors that they recommended. Good luck and I hope things get better for you and your little one.

Hi S.-
I am a chiropractor and I will tell you, I have saved many babies from getting tubes in their ears. It is wonderful. What I do, is an adjustment to the atlas (the first cervical vertebra in the neck) and the ear infections clear right up. A child's immune system is so strong they just need a little help to bounce back and an adjustment will do that for them. It is not the same as an adult adjustment. It is very gentle. A child or infant does not need to be adjusted hard at all. It is very light. Most children like it. If I adjust a child, they do not get tubes in their ears and if they have tubes and get adjusted, then they get them out. In Texas ear infections are prevelant, because it is so hot here and bacteria is around everywhere. So it is important to get an adjustment because it stimulates the immune system. Go to someone you know or come here. You want a pediatric chiropractor. My name is J. Dagnan - Bargy at Dagnan Chiropractic in Irving. If its far for you I'm worth the drive! :)

I had an ear infection that wouldn't go away and went to the chiropractir and he opened up the ear tube. It gave me temporary pain relief and helped it drain, but it doesn't cure it. However, neither do most antibiotics. I'd try the chiropractir for the relief and drainage and keep in mind that Benadryl (if you doc says it's okay) is good for drying up and preventing the things that cause the stoppage in the first place.

I heard the same. We've been trying Gonstead (a particular type of "gentle" chiropracty) at Venn Family Chiropractic in Frisco. I does seem to be helping. I prefer Dr Venn over the other docs there. If you can at all possibly let your child see another person having it done first, it REALLY helps.

Hello
I have not experinced it personally, but a friend of mine has. Her then two year old had ear problems and istead of putting tubes in, they took him to a chiropractor for adjustments. Both her and I have moved and don't keep in touch any more. But I know that they adjustments were doing wonders and she was more apt to going to a chiropractor than doing surgery again. (She had a step-son who had tubes put in). Hope this helps. I know that Chiropractors can fix a majority of problems that you wouldn't normally think of...anything from TMJ (jaw popping/locking) to Carpel Tunnel.

My husband is a chiropractor and YES, having your child seen and "adjusted" by a chiropractor will help the fluids flow naturally thorough the ear canal. (Our son is 4 and has never had an ear infection.) Now that being said, I am not promising a miracle. But I my mind, it would be worth a try.

Hi S.,

I am a chiropractor and I have helped many children with ear infections. If the top vertebrae is out in the neck it won't allow the ears to drain properly which results in ear infections. The antibiotics will help get rid of the fluid, but the fluid will typically return because you haven't eliminated the cause. I would strongly recommend taking your child to a chiropractor! I would also recommend taking your 1st son in to get evaluated. With his history of ear infections it is very likely that the top vertebrae in his neck is out as well. If it remains out of place it can result in other problems. If you have any other questions or if you would like a referral to a chiropractor in your area give me a call - Dr. Sandra S. - ###-###-#### or ###-###-####
