Children's Resale

So my friend closed her children's resale store and I haven A LOT of things left. I called Wear it Once and Children's Orchard but they want every thing in trash bags and they they pay that way. I have a lot of expensive (Juicy Couture, Flowers by Zoe, etc.) and don't want to take a dollar per item or even two dollars and then they turn around and sell them for $10. And all of you know how garage sales work and don't work so I guessing that wouldn't be a good idea. I'm not opposed to mailing the items if I get a good price and putting them on ebay or amazom just is too overwhelming. Do any of you wonderful and helpful moms have any suggestions??

I'm assuming it's nationwide, look into Just Between Friends. I've never consigned, but I bought tons of stuff there. You set your own prices and it's a giant cosignment sale. I don't know if the sellers have to help set up, but once it's all set up, they do all the selling for you. They do take a percentage, but it maybe worth it.

Try craigslist and sell in lots of a few items each for a reasonable price. Seems to work great for many.

I would look into an ebay selling agent. I assume they take either a percentage or a set amount per auction but if you have high end stuff it may be a much better deal for her.

Look for a Mothers and More website. You can be a seller. Works great.

Just Between Friends is nationwide and I have sold with them. Here in my area, they took 30%, BUT you can price high for your clothes and they sell. It's usually twice a year. You have to bring your clothes in, have them checked and then put them on the racks, but that is it! They do all the selling for you, you come pick up your leftovers and get the check 1-2 weeks later. I love it, I used to do garage sales and not anymore. JBF is how I sell my kids stuff now.

Try craigslist, but then try to arrange one or more 'sale dates' for people to come look at the clothes at a time that's convenient for you, say on a Saturday from 9-2. Get the clothes displayed well - on hangers in an easily browsable location in your home. You can put some photos in the Craigslist ad to show that these are better than 'garage sale' kids clothes, and mention sizes and brands in your ad.

Can't hurt to try!
