My mother in law read an article about some music therapy childbirth education class. It sounds really interesting. I was wondering if any of you have taken the class, or what you have heard about it. I am hoping for a natural birth....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I called and talked to the lady who teaches the music therapy childbirth class. We had a great talk, and she told me all about her approach to birth. I signed up for her class and can't wait to start learning more! It is fascinating! You should all check out her website http://musicbirth.googlepages.com
She has a couple spots left for her summer classes and I'd love to meet you there!

Congrats on your pregnancy K.! It's so great that you are going for a natural birth. What a wonderful way to give your baby the best start in life. I don't know much about music therapy classes, but I followed the Hypnobirthing method for my birth. I also had a doula, which was a big help- and I was able to get through a 24 hour drug-free labor :-). Please let me know if I can help you learn more.

I know the person who teaches that class in Boise. I HIGHLY recommend the class. She is a competent teacher and her classes are well rounded. You will not be missing any information you would have gotten elsewhere, but you will be getting a lot of extras. If you are hoping for a natural birth, that is the class for you.

I've never heard of a music therapy childbirth class, but I would have been in that in a second if I would have known about it. I'm a music major and music is my life!! I highly support music and children. If a child is exposed to music early then they are more likely to continue on with it. And it's a known fact that many of the kids in the bands in school are some of the best students. So I would definently try it. I listened to alot of music when I was pregnant. It was all kinds many classic piano stuff but also alot of rock. I would go through different kinds of music and put a head set on your belly and see how you child reacts. If music is calming to you then I would say try it. I did try just a regular childbirth class it was informative but not real exciting. Anyway hope this helps.

I don't know about a music therapy class but I just had a wonderful natural childbirth in February using a program called Hypnobabies. It's all about self-hypnosis and relaxation to make labor a peaceful and calm experience. My labor was awesome and I can't wait to do it again! With my first son I had a horrible experience with an emergency c-section and so I was so scared of labor again but this program kept me calm and helped me have a fabulous experience!
