Child Friendly Fun

We love to go and walk around the canal downtown. My daughter is 3 and she loves it, plus it can be romantic for my husband and I. You can rent paddle boats, bikes, or just walk around and look at the fish in the water or ducks. Also, Eagle Creek Park (56th and 465) has a ton of activites and it is only 5 dollars a car for the whole day. There are playgrounds, picnic areas, places to swim, and trails that are pretty easy for the little ones. You can even take your bikes in. We pack a lunch and make a day of it. Hope this helpes.

The city parks have movies and story hours for the little ones.

I know you already know the zoo and museum, but what about the canal, my 9 year old loves to ride her bike there, and walk, and then we sometimes walk to Methodist and ride the people mover over to Riley and have lunch at McDonalds.
Also Splash Island in Plainfield is really nice.
Turkey Run is nice, as well as McCormicks Creek(near Bloomington) They have a pool and a great Nature Center and a Cave for exploring.
Check out Intake Magazine or the Nuvo, I know it seems "trendy" or "young" but often they have great ideas for family fun or adult fun that the kids will still enjoy.
Spending time together doing whatever is the most important part.
Also check out what is happening at the Canal, sometimes they have outside concerts and you can bring a bottle of wine, picnic and kids.

This might be a bit of a drive for you, but lots of fun. We are new to the area too and stumbled on this park only last week. The water park (or Sprayground as it is called) is good for all ages. We brought buckets and cups for the little ones to fill with water and pour out. It's great for a hot day - pack a picnic lunch and enjoy. Conner Prairie is out this way too, so you might want to combine the 2 for 1 day packed with adventure.

This unique park has a sprayground that is an interactive water feature, which is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Inlow Park has 2 playgrounds that are tucked in the woods and gives children the feeling that they are in a tree house.
