I am looking for someone to care for my children, in my home, ages 7 and 11. We need someone honest, caring and trustworthy as they have recently been through some trauma. Also, any suggestions on babysitting or nanny services for overnight stays with the children in my home.

I had an Au Pair (from New Zealand) for my daughter. The cost is the same whether caring for 1 or more. It is a one year commitment, but 3 years later we are still in contact with her and plan to visit. I consider it one of my best decisions for my daughter. If you have an extra bedroom might be alternative solution for your needs.

Have you considered posting an ad on craigslist?
You can ask them for references and even ask for a previous, most recent, employers name and number.
I have a friend that did that and she had so many responses.
So you will be able to be very selective.
She let them know up front that there would be a background check.
And you can even give them a drug test, as they have the over the counter ones. If you find one you think you would like you can just pop it on them and see their reaction. My friend did not disclose that she would be doing that but she said ti weeded out a lot of problem responders.
So she has a live-in nanny now.
She said she would include food as well as a room but the person gets food stamps so she ended up not covering that.
She is very happy with her new nanny.
