Chigger Bite?

OK, I have a strange ques - my 4 yr old boy has an issue. His "private boy part" started hurting and itching in one spot yesterday. Today his "priv boy part" is swollen where it was itching. We get chiggers quite often but I've never seen one get on his priv part before so I'm not familiar with what happens there. Has anyone had this happen to their little boy? Does a chigger bite cause it to swell? Poor baby, it looks miserable, but he said it doesn't hurt. Any thoughts on why it is so swollen? (the other "normal" spots don't swell like that :o()

What can I do next?

Hi A., I do not have any advice on whether it is an actual chigger bit, but if it is, I highly recommend a product I just got at Walmart called "AfterBite for Kids". The mosquitos are terrible at our house and it immediately takes the swelling and redness out of the bite and within 24 hours it is barely even noticable anymore. Good luck!

Hi A., it definitely could be chiggers, they bite around places where the clothing is tight, like underwear legs. The cnd definitely get them on their privates and it can swell alot. If he's prone to them, give him B1 vitamins, they will keep chiggers and mosquitos away from him. Hope he gets better soon.

Chiggers like warm, moist areas, so getting a chigger bite in private areas are very common (especially if he was sitting on the ground). It's most likely swollen because he was scratching it, possibly in his sleep. I'd call your pediatrician to see what's safe to put in that area. And, put your son in something that makes it difficult for him to get his hands to the area (tight pants or pants that are hard to get open or maybe even diapers?)

For chigger bites, I just put clear nail polish on it to suffocate the larva and stop the itching. But where YOUR little guy has it, I'm not quite sure about putting it there. Just call your pedi and ask him/her.

Wish you well

Yes for some reason it will cause quite a bit of swelling. Hope it gets better soon.
