Hey all, I got a flat of chicken broth at costco some time ago. I just found a carton in my cupboard and would like to use it in a soup I'm making tonight. It's a few weeks expired though. When something is 'non' perishable - or at least is good for years, do a few weeks over the expiration really make a difference? Should I chuck it or use it?

pfffft. i consider expired dates to be 'suggestions.' a few weeks is no biggie in my book.

I would use it. It's so close the date...If it was 6 months I'd probably chunk it.
Open it and check it out.
The funny thing about expiration dates is that the food doesn't instantly rot on that day.
I'm sure it's perfectly fine, but if it doesn't smell right to you, don't use it.
It's only a few weeks past the date.

A few weeks if it smells ok, I'd use it.
If it smells bad, it's bad. Otherwise, I'd probably use it.
The date on the container is a sell by date and best by date. If it's just a few weeks it's still good.
Chuck it, Ephie. The last thing you need is to get sick while you're preggers. It's not worth it!

Yeah, I rarely go past dates, especially on poultry. I suppose you could see if it smells ok.
It should be fine. Smell it, taste it, heat it before using and see if its normal. If there is any question about it, throw it out.
It's a product created from meat do not use it not worth the few bucks.
