Although he was already in high school we found my son who was diagnosed ADHD did so much better emotionally & academically when he joined the running team. You could go for daily runs building up to brisk 15-20 minute runs. You may also find info on Chicago Run. They have programs with CPS grade schools.

Martial arts. It will get him to focus, release energy and learn to use his body and mind. Any good teacher will put the focus on him being respectful about his new skills and toward his family, community and school. It certainly works for me. I have been a student for a long time.

Martial arts (karate, tae kwon do, etc.) are good. My son has taken tae kwon do for 4 years, and a number of kids have come to class in order to work on discipline, focus and physical coordination. Your local park district may have classes available for your son's age.

My son's doctor gave me a brochure on a program called "Tuesday's child." It is designed to help children with these types of issues. I am going to check it out for my son. It is on W. Irving Park Rd.
