Good Morn!! If you read my previous posts, you'll see what I've been dealing with. Just started chemo last week. I'll be receiving 2 treatments a month for 4 months. I've been feeling alright, just slight headache in mornings & weak. (As to be expected) Drinking lots of water & love the V-8 fusion drinks. Just wondering if anyone has gone through this or know someone that has & send me some advise & encouragement. I have stage 2 Invasive Ductal. Will do chemo, then surgery & radiation. >>>Biggest Fight For My Life!!

What can I do next?

Ask for what sounds good. If you are craving anything go for it, just take it slow.,

My friend liked soft boiled eggs for breakfast.. She had never cared for them before, but craved them.

She did drink a lot of water, Fresh juices. She enjoyed thin crisp cookies, sherbert mints, pudding, flan. Different fruits came and went, so we offered what looked good at the store.,

One evening she was craving fried chicken and mashed potatoes! So, we picked up an order from the best place in town.. Also took her a slice of pie.. She did not eat much, but she was able to keep it down.

Hang in there. Rest, rest, rest..
I am sending you healing thoughts!

My next door neighbor is a breast cancer survivor. She chose complete mastectomy. Her chemo was hard - but worth it.

Drinking lots of water. She started "juicing" as well...that helped keep unprocessed food in her body and made her recovery a tad easier.

Good luck! Attitude is everything when fighting things like this!

My MIL went through this. She had been feeling badly and gone to the family doc several times. She'd told the doc she hadn't been feeling well and was experiencing depression. This was a woman who never had depression in her life, she'd get in her truck and head to Alaska on a road trip or to Maine to see the trees turn colors in the fall. Her doc would just pat her hand and say "Honey, you're getting older now and your body is slowing down".

She did this for several months. For my MIL to even go to the doc was unusual so my FIL knew something was up. He took my MIL to his doc at St. Anthony's and the first thing he did was an ultra sound on her abdomen. He saw small cell cancer on her liver.

She didn't even do chemo here in our small town. She went to OKC proper to get it done. She did really well with the treatments.

I know you have a great chance with this, especially since it was caught so early. Be glad your doc listened to you and you're on the right track.

Eat when you can, rest as much as possible, and take good care of your body. It will need every bit of pampering you can give it.

When my sister was on her last round of chemo, she lived on powdered protein drinks. She even got herself a personal mini blender. It made things easier. She also loved the welches frozen fruit pops.

Be kind to yourself and listen to your body. Listen to when it's tired and achy and let yourself be babied as much as possible.

Please ask for help for even the smallest things if you need it. Allow friends and neighbors to clean and do your dishes and make meals whenever they can. Ignore the urge to have things tidy and in their place. You've got more important things to deal with.

I heartily suggest the website Lotsa Helping Hands. It can create a calendar for you to plug in whatever it is you might need, be it trips to the hospital, picking up the kids, dinner help; just about everything. Then friends and family in your contact list can fill in whenever they can.

Best possible luck to you. Keep us posted ... and don't give up! You can do this!

I used acupuncture last year, when I went through radiation. It REALLY helped with the fatigue and nausea. I had DCIS, so pre-cancer, but still, the treatment was basically cancer treatment: lumpectomy, radiation, tamoxifen. I didn't have to go through Chemo, so I can't fully relate to what you're about to experience.

As tough as it is, the BEST way I helped myself was to keep my good attitude. This was a blip on the radar screen of my life, I was going to get through it no problem. Cancer treatment was just one small thing in my life at the time, along with watching your kids play, cooking a delicious meal, playing tennis, all the other things that make one's life full and a joy to live.

I met quite a few people going through treatment at the same time as me (including my sister's SIL). The ones with good attitudes generally did better than ones that took a "woe is me, why did this have to happen to me, I'm the center of this horrible universe because I have cancer" attitude. Yeah, it sucks, it really does, but how you approach it, your mindset, will help determine how you cope. I really believe that.

Good luck, hang in there, let others help you, take joy in the little things that happen every day. You'll do just fine. You can send me a private message anytime you want.
