So What Happened?

well i fount out there is a check like this and its not SSi,as for some of the rude comments i got i dont appriciate them, its not easy to take care of a deaf child if you dont have one you dont know.its not the easiest thing to try to calm down a newborn who is deaf and you dont know.i have never heard some of the rudest people till i posted this. And just to let you know my husband is a full time employed man and very self dependant.so i dont need rude comment it,like i tell my 4 yr old if you dont have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all..

This country is out of control with their free money to everyone except for hard working Americans. Sheesh. What next?

Do people really get government money for deaf children? Really?

never heard of it, but I am sure all of us sahm would like to see one. I am sure it is probably a disability check of some kind or something along that line-Heck if they gave checks to sahms everyone would be one. I don't want u to think I am being smart w/this response I am just honest-please do not take it the way it may sound. L.:)

Yes. There are some companies that will provide training for you to take care of your disabled child or even spouses in some cases. They train and you are then hired on with them and you are essentially paid as a caregiver.

Here is a place to start: http://www.caring.com/questions/how-to-become-a-paid-care...

It's most likely a DISABILITY check for a disabled child.

My response has nothing to do with the government or disability, etc. but I do some work from home and get a check each month. If you are interested/able to work, I can show you what I do. I understand it may be hard to schedule around your daughter’s needs and your husbands work schedule. Send me a private message if you are interested.

I have heard of it and a freind of mine has a child with a disability and she gets a check from the government for the child and when the child turns 18 he will get a check the rest of his life from the government. He was born with one eye smaller than the other and a speech problem. He is now 15 and has had therapy so he has no speech problem anymore and his eye looks much better. Unfortunately like you she didn't know she could get a check for him until he was 12 years old and they don't go back and give it to you. Ask about this right away so you can start getting a check for your child. Praying you get the help you deserve.

it's prob not bc she is just a SAHM and her child won't go to anyone else. It's SSI. any child who has a disability can get this check. that includes children who live in group homes, go to Easter Seals (or another daycare type environment for people with disabilities) or children who stay home. It's not a check for the parent. It's a check for the child and their welfare. I don't know if the deaf in one ear would qualify as a disability or not, but you can check with the social security administration website.

I'm sure it would have to be some sort of disability benefit. I've been a homeschooling mom for 10 years and a SAHM for 16 years and I've gotten nothing... =) (Except for having a blessed life which is priceless!) You could look to see if you would qualify for some sort of benefit like that. You never know...

More than likely this is a Social Security disability check. It's not an easy thing to get unless your child has a disability that has been diagnosed by the "right" doctors. I was attempting to get this for my son, but was told the myriad of doctors we had seen was not good enough, and we HAD to have one certain doctor diagnose him...Since that doctor has a god complex and and is jerk, we decided to forgo it...

I would also think it's a disability check from the government. I've never heard of anything other than that.

I don't think you would have to have your daughter be diagnosed by a doctor for a disability to get one.

If money is tight and you are looking for extra cash I can give you some websites that I use to make some extra money.

OMGOSH!!!!! I kept this question because I was curious of the responses you would get... and I am APPAULD!!! The level of RUDENESS that some of the ladies showed you is NOT acceptable!!! Really?? This sight is meant to be helpful... it is never helpful to verbally attack someone for asking for help!! I think it is admirable that you want make sure your daughter is getting the very best care and are trying to find help where ever you can. If I may suggest to bring in a lil income ..maybe you could start babysitting maybe one child.. that way your daughter has a playmate, one more isnt to overwhelming and you make a lil money!! My RESPECT and PRAYERS are with you!!!

Hey D.,

Research Supplemental Security Income (SSI) which is a Federal income supplement program. I recieve it for my daughter who is a severe autistic and it has helped keep a roof over our head when times have been rough. I was determined to stay with her and give her a sense of security. All kids need to have this need met and sadly as mothers and caregivers we are forced to chose between creature comforts and caring for our kids. It was an easy choice for me and the SSI made it a little easier. Once that secure feeling is there you will find a happier child for the rest of her life! I wish you PEACE and Good Luck to you and your family.

Yes, it's called SSI or disability and comes through the Social Security Administration. I'm gathering materials myself to apply for my autistic son. Best of luck!

It's called social secuity. The disabled child receives a check, not you. This is for children that have been diagnosed with a disability.

There are 2 separate things possible: disability (I am not sure that not going to anyone else can qualify as a disability, though), and at least in our area you can get a check for caregiving for someone with a disability (or aged) if they are in danger of being placed outside the home without that care - it's called In Home Supportive Services and in CA, you have to also qualify for Medi-Cal for these services, which may mean an income limit. It's hard to comment for other areas, since I don't know the rules. I am getting qualified to be a caregiver for my father.

I googled "children with hearing loss getting disability check" and got this web site, it lists what SSI thinks are areas of legit disabilities. Hearing loss, or partial hearing loss, isn't listed.

I was surprised:
