Hi,
I have an embarrassing question to ask. I am not misses skinny stick a size 12. So I have curves and extra baggage.. Lol. But lately when I walk all day like on vacation at Disneyland or a fair.. I sweat... And my skin under my butt cheeks is so irritated I lay in bed frustrated tonight. I wear boy short underwear and yoga capri pants.. And by the end of the day it hurts.. I do spinning bike classes and use bike Capri pants.. This is different than a saddle sore.. And only happens after a lot of walking. I have used glide before when I did the danskin tri and that helped for my inner thighs.. But this is just below my but cheek boy short.. I wear boy shorts because they come up father on my stomach. And fit well. I have had 2 c sections and sorry if this is tmi but where my c section scar is I have a self of flab and regular underwear roll down. Hmm. It bugs me I feel like I am the only one with this problem.. I am 5 one had both my kids were huge like super long for me to carry while preggers 22inches one of my kids was. I am trying to loose weight but am wondering if my stomach will always have a shelf and tons of extra skin.. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated..
Thank you,
L

sorry, I've recommended this before .....& it's still hard to share/write:

barrier cream for incontinence works wonders for chafing, for preventing sweating in skin folds. The original formula Desitin also works.

I have found that many people are offended by the thought of using either of these products, but they work wonders. It is amazing how much they help. I have issues with yeast infections along my c-section scar.....& the men in my house have issues with crotch rot in the summer. Both of these products work for all of us......

& I do believe the boy shorts are part of the problem. I would recommend a full brief. Switching to an all-cotton product would also be beneficial....both with the underwear & with the choice of clothing. Polyester, nylon, & spandex are all non-breathing fabrics.....& are known to accelerate sweating & chafing.

There are briefs you can wear that are more form fitting that may help keep support and less rubbing. Have you heard of the baking soada itch powder ( gold bond ) ... it is great for chaffing and heals quick. I use that a lot in my inner leg area when I wear a skirt and there is rubbing. I have had c sections too. Can't get rid of my little flap either.... I think it is near impossible... when you do get the weight loss, maybe a little tuck will help down the road if any of us can afford it. But supportive underware may help a lot.

I would try different underwear - like french cut bikinis or high cut bikinis or whatever they're called. They tend to sit higher on the stomach. My sister had a c-section and says she was lucky not to have a shelf of skin left over (she's fairly skinny, too), but some of her skinny friends do have a flap or shelf or whatever you want to call it, on their scar. You can always check with a plastic surgeon to see how much it would cost to fix. I believe some consultations are free or don't cost a lot. If you have insurance, check with them to see if you can have it fixed. As for the chafing, also look at your pants - maybe try ones that are looser in the thigh area? And by the way, size 12 is not fat! It depends on your height! I am between a 10 and 12 at my skinniest and I'm 5'9". Sounds like you exercise a lot, too, so give yourself a break there! Good luck with it all!

As a runner I'm used to chafing. There is a stick out there called Body Glide available at most sports stores. It's sole purpose is to prevent chafing and blisters. It looks like a deodorant stick and works like a charm. I feel your pain. I just had my second c-section two months ago and recently started exercising again. I'm feeling very sore near the incision and extra skin and I'll have to start using my Body Glide there.

C sections do cause the shelf and I would imagine the only way to every get rid of it is a tummy tuck or losing a TON of weight. Jenny McCarthy, the actress, once mentioned her "shelf" and said that she only lost it when she lost so much weight that she had a completely flat stomach. I have a friend that got a tummy tuck and said they cut her c section scars right out. I have the same problem with my underwear rolling down but don't think it is b/c my stomach is too big, I think maybe some better/tighter underwear would help. As far as chafing, I was going to suggest the bike shorts so maybe some powder to help it from rubbing? Maybe the bike shorts are too short? Maybe if they came down mid thigh length? Maybe some Spanks? They have many types. I hope you get some better suggestions, good luck.

Gold bond and Lotrimin. I get it in the upper pubic region because of my tummy skin, 3 kids back to back, large amount of weight loss, and nerve damage from a botched Epidural. Causes my tummy to sag in this region. Any amount of enthusiastic walking causes irritation. These are my best friends till i get the surgery to get rid of excess skin.

Deodorant!!! Inner thighs, bum, wherever. Specifically the white solid works best. It ALSO works for razor burn of the bikini area (stopping it from happening to begin with. For bikini line... or V shaving... as soon as you're done apply *secret solid unscented*. Others work okay, there's something magic about secret solid unscented. It's a trick I learned from 2 old roommates who were stripper. Love it!

Same token... you MAY have a latex (or elastic) allergy. I can't wear underwear on a regular basis just because of this, and have to buy expensive french bras (mostly silk & lace) but even then I get the 'red lines' from the very tiny amount of elastic in them. Cotton bras or undies are the WORST. Oy! There's elastic in the cotton AND elastic bands. Then I sweat and that just speeds up the reaction between my skin and the latex in the elastic or cotton. Boy shorts for undies & french silk/satin/lace are best in this regard... but any elastic in a crease EVER... or elastic touching my skin for an extended period of time makes my skin start to degrade. Starts out with a red line. Then the red line aquires bumps. The Itching, burning, sloughing, and blistering. OY! Then... because the skin is degraded I get yeast infections in those areas. Fun. (umm...not)

PERSONALLY... My stomach will always have the "smile" :P I carried 40lbs in my uterus (the normal is 10-12... even twin mamas only usually carry apx 20), and my skin will NOT ever be able to recover. In fact, the less I weigh, the worse the flap.

There's a mom on this board who developed a line of custom lingerie especially for women with the unhappy smile and c-sect scars. They're called Sexcies. YAY!!!!! http://www.sexcies.com/
