HI everyone, happy holidays!
My son is just 2 and after a year long struggle, we finally found out that he has celiac disease as well as an allergy to oat, buckwheat and eggs, as well as a high sensitivity to about 26 things. oh yea, he is lactose intolerant also. So where do i go from here...? throughout the year we had already eliminated gluten and many other foods because of all the problems he has had so that part isnt as hard although he is really itching for some good food and i am having a hard time finding any. anyone know of a support group around here for this? also, anyone know of a gluten free bakery maybe? i appreciate any help at all.

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

My sister in law has celiac disease and she just became part of a great website offering food choices for people with the same condition. It's called Free World Foods, below is the link:

Good luck!

D.-there is Gluten free bakery by me in Chesterfield. It is on Jefferson near 21 Mile Rd I believe. The name of it is Celiac Specialties and their phone number is ###-###-####. You can even type their name on Google and they have a great website and you can even order online. Hope this is helpful. Best of luck.

Hi D.,
Sorry to hear about your son's allergies. I have a good friend who's son is a little over 2 that has faced the similar allegies and her mom has celiac. If you PM me I can see if she's willing to exchange emails with you for support. I know she goes to Whole Foods.. they have gluten free foods, they have LifeSmart Foods by Lakeside Mall as well although I haven't been there since they first open and wasn't impressed. There are celiac support groups as well that you might consider..

Does your son have an allergy to spelt flour? My friend's son can have that even though he's allergic to wheat.

My girlfriend does almost all of her shopping at The Natural Food Patch on 9 mile rd in Ferndale. She has celiacs too and has said over and over that its worth the drive from Plymouth because of the selection and prices. Their website is www.naturalfoodpatch.com

Good Luck with everything,
L.
