I have 3 children ages 6, 4, and 12 monthes. My older two have reached their milestones at the "typical" times, including cutting teeth. My 12 month old, however, has yet to cut even one tooth. She appears to be teething at times but her gums are not swollen and she is not fussy. Has anyone experienced the same thigna dn how did things turn out?

What can I do next?

My 9-month old has just 2 teeth, and no others on the horizon. This is much later than my son. My doctor, whom I trust very much, says this is totally normal, and that some kids don't get teeth until around 15 months! So, don't worry, they'll come, just probably all at once!

My daughter was very late with her teeth as well. She did have 1 tooth by a year though. Now she's the only one at school who hasn't lost any teeth yet LOL...

I also use to photograph children and had a little girl come in and she had NO teeth. I wanna say she was around 18mos.-2 years old or so. I thought it was weird but didn't have the nerve to ask the parents.

I think some kids just get and lose their teeth later than others. It's like going through puberty some are very very young and other's seem to take forever. I would just ask your pediatrician or your dentist. I'm sure it's normal.

Hello, my son didn't get his first tooth until he was 13 months. It felt like he was teething since he was 6 months, but nothing cut threw. But finally one day it did, but surprisingly, it was a molar!! Not saying that it will happen to you, but it was odd. But they do say that the longer it takes for them to come in, the better. So don't be too worried. If you are really worried, you can bring her into a pediatric dentist and see if anything is wrong. Good Luck!!!

My oldest daughter was like the last poster. She didn't get teeth until she was 16 months and the first one to come in was a molar, then they all seemed to come in fairly quickly with no problems. I talked to my doctor at the time about this and she told me what I'm telling you: "Your child will definitely have teeth before their 2nd birthday. :)"

Another thing to consider researching is the theory that delayed teething is linked to a propensity for food allergies or gastro-intestinal abnormalaties. Meaning that the baby's body delays its ability to ingest things other than milk by supressing the eruption of the teeth. This was the case with my late-teether. I'll edit if I can find a good, concise link for you.

It's probably nothing though, just tossing this out there.
