Hi! Have any of you purchased the Dry Erase Boards from Crayola that come with crayons instead of markers? Just wondering how they work? Good buy or not so much? Thought about buying them for our kids for an upcoming plane ride, want to be sure it's not a waste 1st.

Thanks!

Just bought them this weekend and LOVE them! They work great -- vivid colors on the white board and they don't dry out. Super!

my daughters grandma got her a big crayola dry erase board for xmas and got her markers for them and i hated them and i got her the crayons for it when i saw them and they work really well i think the easer pad they come with does not work very well because you have to push really really h*** o* the board but i just use a whipe or a wet towel or something like that and it comes right off and we dont have to worry about them drying up or anything

I have them and they are not that great. You really need something wet to wipe the board down and they make a mess of the kids hands.

I have those but im not sure I would take them on a pane ride, if they sit on them they will get the crayon all over themselves..they work great on a board and I found it easier to use a wet paper towel to erase or you need to use a lot of pressure to get it off with the eraser. I took playdoh, color wonder markers with the books, and im nto sure how old your kids are but gold fish and travel size connect four.

For a plane ride?
Me, I would not take it, too many pieces: the crayons, the board, the eraser.

Just get them if you can, a Leapster.
My kids have loved their's since 2 years old.
Of course now, they play the iPad.

Just take paper and crayons. Easier. Everyone has those already at home.
And coloring books.

I bought them last week, also with the main purpose of an upcoming plane ride and also to cut down on the paper (my three year old is pretty prolific as an artist) and because the smell of the dry-erase markers makes me nauseous - even the "low odor" ones.

The good is that they actually draw really nicely and there is very little smearing, no caps, no drying out and nice bright colors too. And there really is NO, ZERO smell.

The bad is that they are pretty hard to get off dry - the cloth that is included doesn't do anything. It is easiest to wipe off with a baby-wipe, but you do have to dry off the board before writing on it again. For me that's fine, since I carry wipes and tissues with me anyways.

For the plane I won't be taking the board, only the crayons (you can buy them separately). I use the cover of a view binder as a dry erase board and put filler-paper inside for my daughter to draw on as well, add a three ring binder pouch (check back to school section) to hold all of the crayons and color pencils and voila $3 plane entertainment center.

Good luck.

I bought this for my daughter last summer to take on our 8 hour car ride to the beach. She loved it, I hated it. The crayons are really hard to get off of the board, especially when you have a L. one that is scribbling all over it! Also, they melt almost instantly (much faster than regular crayons) and are impossible to get out.
