Can't Stop My Period! I Am So Tired of It.

I know this may sound crazy but I am so tired of being on my period that I could scream. I don't know what to do to get it to stop. The nurse at my OB/GYN changed by birth control 2 months ago because I was getting really bad headaches to the point that once I got home from work I could go to sleep because my head hurt so much. I have been on the new birth control bill for 2 months now and I knew that I would spot a little bit but didn't think that I would have a full period because they had told me to skip the pills that would cause me to have my period. Well, for the last month I have been on my period while still taking the pills. I called the dr on Monday and they said that we could try another type of pill or I could stop them all together. Which my husband and I had already discussed that if I still didn't feel right by the end of this pack that I would just stop them. So I stopped them on Monday and I am still bleeding. Which who wants to be on their period for almost a month. The nurse said that if I haven't stopped by Friday to call back. I was wondering has another one else done this before? Any advise would be great.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I finally stopped my period after being on it for a month and a half. Still not sure why it happened. The only thing I can figure out is that the birth control had a lower dosage than what my body was used to. I doing better though. Now the question is when I will start my next period since my last period was so long. What a strange thing our bodies do.

Please, see your doctor, if you are still bleeding. It could be nothing, but I only say this because my sister had two miscarriges, then later found out she had a tumor on her uterus. She recently had a hysterctomy.

J.,

I have never had that particular issue. I hope that your situation improves. Once it does, if you are still needing some form of BC look into the Mirena IUD. It is a 5 year plastic IUD. I have had mine in for just over 3 yrs. You can have it taken out at anytime if you are wanting to get pregnant again. I had it put in 2 months after my son was born and within a month I had stopped my periods all together. I may spot once or twice a year. It is awesome. I haven't had any problems with it. There is no danger in not having a period. Check out this website. http://www.mirena-us.com/index.jsp Good luck with you problem.

Hi J.;

Has your doctor checked to see if you may have fibroids or cysts? I have the same problem and my doctor found cysts on my ovaries, causing me to bleed. Maybe get that checked out if the bleeding doesn't stop after taking the BCs.

Good Luck to you I know how frustrating it can be =)

Dear J.,

Oooo. Yeah, BC can really get your system messed up!

Three thoughts on the matter. Its a good thing you got off the BC altogether. Secondly, if its caused by cysts, many times just getting off caffeine will make them shrink. Thirdly, when I have my period for a long time and it won't quit, I take iron pills and it stops the next day or two. I have no idea why. But it always works for me. I don't get the expensive ones. I go to Dollar General and get their smallest bottle and it lasts me a year or so.

Hope this helps.

I am so sorry to here about you situation. I too had that happen to me and the Doctors NEVER figured out what it was. I was too on so many different types of birthcontrol, but I was so much younger when it happened and my period stayed for 11 months. It was horrible. I hope the Dr. can help you out but I would keed pressuring them for some answers!! good luck.

I had the same thing as Brandy. Cysts. Which caused me to bleed and bleed.

I don't like your doctor pushing you off even another day. If you don't like him/her, try Dr. McWherter at the Fem Center in Colleyville or Dr. Angelo Mendes at Grapevine Baylor.

I had a very similar reaction to BC. We tried several and they would always make me bleed, not just spot. My doc at the time did a blood test and found my hormones were a little off. Natural for me but not like most everyone else. Something to do with a higher/lower? progesteran level. She put me on a BC called Levora, dont know if its a generic or brand name but my periods all but went away while I was on it. I had very light ones that only lasted three days. Dont know if this helps but its something to ask about.
