I am due to have my 1st child on Feb 5 and am new to Columbus. I have heard several good things about both hospitals here, that is the Medical Center and Doctor's Hospital. My doctor is pushing me to decide which one I want to use. Any comments or advice? N.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I delivered at doctor's hospital and had a great experience (well, as good as labor and delivery can be!). Thanks to everyone who responded.

I had my son in June at the medical center and it was a horrible evxperience. First they induced me and let me sit in labor for hours and said I wasn't progressing so they were going to take me off the potosin and let me go home when my contractions stopped which they never did. Next they had the monitors on wrong and said my contractions weren't that bad which I knew they were. After 45 hours in labor they finally put on the internal monitors and took me for an emergency C-section. In the operating room they said my I-V wasn't even right so they had to put a new one in. Next my epideral wore off in the middle of the C-Section. Next my son had to stay in the special care unit because he got an infection because my water was broke so long. Last but not least, my diamond earrings got stolen out of my room! It was a horrible experience and I will never go there again!

Just saw this for the first time today. Which OB are you using? And what kind of birth are you planning. A lot of that will determine where you should go. You can email me at ____@____.com

I delivered my first baby at the Medical Center, and I plan to deliver there again with this pregnancy. I had a great birth experience there. I have also heard great things about Doctor's Hospital, so I think that it's just a matter of choosing for you, because they are both great hospitals. Hope I helped a little.

Hi N.,
I delivered at Medical Center and have only 1 complaint. After my son was born I had nurses coming in for temp and bloodpressure checks, breastfeeding help and etc around the clock. This may not seem like a big issue but I was exhausted and wanted to sleep when I could. This meant that I could only sleep when my son slept. About the time I would doze off someone would come in, turn on the lights (even in the middle of the night)to do their thing. Everyone was really nice but I was SO glad to go home just to get some rest. I don't know if Doctors Hospital has the same procedure for their patients but you might want to find out from someone who has delivered there. Other than that I had NO complaints but to me it was huge.
Hope your delivery goes well.
Eve

The best place in Columbus to deliever your baby is Doctor's Hospital. They have excellent Dr's and nurses, lactation consultants. They have great birthing rooms and the operationing room for c-sections is on the same floor just in case. I had my son by emergancy c-section at dr's. They were so awesome that I scheduled a c-section for my daughter. Check them out.
