I have been breastfeeding my daughter who is now 4 months old and my milk supply has gone completely to zero. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive and i dont know how to produce more milk. Help! I know she was eating well before because she went from 3lbs at birth to 10 now.

What can I do next?

You'll need to up your nutrious calorie intake significantly. And take some really good vitamins (food based calcium, Mg with D and zinc for sure). My milk went down significantly when I got pregnant as well, eventually I went to formula, because your milk is supposedly not as good. Maybe consider supplementing. Remember now you have 2. My weight dropped like crazy pregnant and nursing be careful.

Your breast milk shouldn't go away because you get pregnant. I would check with your doctor. I believe if you need to (unless there is a problem with the complications for the pregnancy) there is a pill you can take to get you to produce milk. Have you made sure when you nurse she was actually getting milk before it stopped.

I have ended up pregnant while breastfeeding twice now. Both times my supply dropped. The first time I went to my stash of frozen BM and that got my oldest to a yaer on BM. The second time I wasn't willing to give up nursing (but I did give up pumping at work). I ended up taking an herbal supplement to get my supply back up some. You can't fenugreek while pregnant so you have to make sure it doesn't have fenugreek in it. The one I took was called "More Milk Two" you can search for it and find it online. The other safe supply booster would be oatmeal. A lot of nursing moms find adding oatmeal to their diet (cereal, cookies, any way you can stomach it!) helps increase supply.

Best of luck to you. It is really hard to be pregnant and loosing your BM supply. Hugs!

My doctor just informed me last week that it is inadvisable to breastfeed while pregnant, as it increases the risk of miscarriage (every time you nurse, you have uterine contractions).

I second the oatmeal suggestion. Have you tried contacting La Leche League? Have you met with a lactation consultant? They might be able to help. Good luck!
