Hi Folks,

Can anyone reccommend a large bag that is easy to clean??? I went through 3 with my daughter, they just go so ratty looking so quickly. I mean seriously I see diaper bags with suede?? How quickly is that going to look awful!

So on the perks side, it would be nice if had zipper pockets so I don't keep dumping it by accident, don't need the matching changing pad or other stuff though... but not opposed to it either.

What is nice is that my Mom will get it for me :), and since she was looking at Coach bags (none of which really meet my criteria) I would say a more expensive choice is probably okay. If only I could find one... expensive or otherwise. I am more instersted in quality, which I know cost $$, but for example my Skip Hop was supposed to be "Quality" but is impossible to clean...

I have googled and searched and looked at way too many at this point... so now I throw myslef on your mercy, what bag do you reccomend and what did you like about it?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I've been using the same lands end backpack for 3 years. I use it daily and it looks new. It has tons of great compartments, etc.

After DS #2 was born, I switched to a backpack. It was easier to handle (two shoulder straps) with the newborn and the toddler, there's lots of zipped compartments, and DH would use it! We are now well beyond diaper stage, and I still have it, still use it, when we go on vacation or even day trips. It's big enough to carry all the "stuff" we still need (jackets, wet ones, etc.).

I had one from Kate Spade that was black microfiber. It had a bottle pouch on either end on the outside of it, and then the main compartment had a zipper. Here's a link: http://www.bayareabags.com/bags/kate-spade-abigail-diaper...

I loved it, and it was cute enough that without the baby stuff in it, it looked like a regular purse/tote. My main criteria for a diaper bag was that I shouldn't be embarrassed to carry it around. (No pastels, no baby bunnies...)

Funny that you ask! I had to stop myself from buying one of these this morning. I love these bags and this is a great deal!! Hurry, before they sell out! I am such a diaper bag freak!

I also like my 31 utility tote as a diaper bag, downside, it doesnt close, so if you have it on your shoulder and you bend over, stuff falls out. :(

LOVE JPLizzy bags, they look more like purses, but a diaper bag!

Harvey's seatbelt bags are ADORABLE and super super durable! They have a lifetime guarantee on the zippers, feet, etc. and to clean them you just wipe it with a wet sponge. The liner is great too I've never had one rip on a purse I have had 2 bags from them and they still look brand new even after 4 years! My aunt swears this is the only bag she will ever own again! I think the diaper bag is $150?? Check their website :) Good Luck!

Vera Bradley bags are washable. I am very careful with my diaper bags and luckily I still use the same ones with my daughter that I had with my son. I have one that I picked out (Carters) and a Petunia Pickle Bottom that I got as a shower gift. I switched between them a lot because I liked both. Then I got a Coach 'diaper'/multi-purpose bag last year that I never intended to use as a diaper bag, but I did carry it for a while but it was a tad big for the basket in the smaller stroller I got and I didn't want to wear it out forcing it in the stroller basket, so I switched to my Petunia bag (holds more than the carters). I also second a Land's End bag. I don't have one but I know they are sturdy.

Skip the diaper bag. But a tote with a wipeable/washable material & use that as a diaper bag. That's what I did, and it served as my purse, too, and it was easy to clean & not a bear to lug around. I think diaper bags are a waste of money, personally.

Our Columbia bag is nice but really big and better for DH than for me. We still use it as an overnight bag for our 4 yr old.

I went to a backpack option. Just your standard backpack. I prefer water bottle holders on the side, but any backpack allows me to carry DD, or wrangle groceries or navigate the subway with a stroller. And if it gets dirty? You can usually wash them. If you want a changing pad, go get one that folds up really small - they sell changing pads apart from the bags.

Hi! I used a Land's End bag that went every where and did everything. I actually used it for both my kids and gave it a good cleaning and gave it away. I actually dug up a bigger, unused Land's End bag while cleaning out recently. I never used it because the old one just took everything, the back of the truck, the camping, the pool, adventures in the desert and the ocean, even the floor of Shea Stadium! Oh it was a well used bag. I used it for 6-7 years.

My son is 2.5 and before he was born my Mom bought me a Vera Bradley diaper bag. It's still in good condition! You are right; they get gross! The great thing about Vera Bradley; you can wash them! I did make the mistake once of not remembering to take out the cardboard in the bottom before washing. =( What a mess in the washer! So now it doesn't have that, but it still works fine...just a little loose on the bottom; doesn't sit up as well. From all the washings, it is also faded a little. I love it! Will definitely get a new one when we have our second baby!

I bought a simple one at Wal-mart.
Vinyl. Easy to clean.
Came w/changing pad. (Bought an extra changing pad w/cute carrier @
Babie R Us for the car. Love it. Cute).
The diaper bag has a flap (so stuff wouldn't fly out) w/a snap, only one big
huge compartment, one zipper pocket inside, two compartments up front
that were covered by the flap, one pocket on each end for a bottle let's
say. Not too complicated, cheap, easy to clean, functional, cute color.
I finally gave up on the purse & threw my wallet in here.

I have a Vera Bradley and I love it! My last daughter, I lost count on how many cheap diaper bags I went through. This time I spent some money and after 9 months, it still looks brand new! I didn't go with the diaper bag version though, I have a tote bag. It was cheaper and bigger. And i know ill be able to use it after too. I have the very berry pattern -lots of colors to match everything. It has 6 pockets on the out side and 3 little ones on the inside. I'm amazed how much I can fit in there. I'm bit of a diaper bag freak though i love them....but then again,i love purses too. Good luck

Wow, I used the free bag the hospital gave me the entire time when my second daughter was a baby. For my first, a wal-mart bag.

I just looked at some diaper bags at Babies 'R Us the other day and good golly, I'd never pay that for a damn bag.

Good thing your Mom's buying it for you! :)

I have a Vera Bradley diaper bag and it's pretty good. Those bags are washable and very durable. You just throw them in the washer/dryer and you're done.

We also have a Columbia (the hubs doesn't like carrying the hot pink Vera when he's out with the kids) and it's also pretty great. That's "his" diaper bag, so I'm not as familiar. He likes it because it's a messenger style with zippers and pockets (a place for everything and everything in its place).

Petunia pickle bottom! Pretty, some have cleanable/wipe off exteriors, all have the pad, and are easy to convert and carry/clip on. Other than that look at ju ju be and fleurville. A good one pays for itself!

I agree with the Vera Bradley pick. Mine went through two children and I loved that I could take the board out of the bottom and machine wash it!
