Hi all, we just moved here and would like recommendations on the wineries in area. We're looking for an actual winery that has their own vineyards and produces their own wines. We want to be able to make a day trip out of it, so the driving distance should be around an hour each way. Let me know if you have any rec's, thanks!

What can I do next?

There is a brochure that lists all the winerys of NC. Its a guide and map. We picked it up at the airport in the brochures by the baggage carousel. You can probably find one in a hotel or go to www.visitncwine.com from the back of the brochure. I have gone to 5 of them. I'm not a fan of the grape grown in NC (I think its call Macaroon??) The nicest winery that I've been to is Shelton Vineyard and further is Biltmore Estate. Both high class places.
We moved here from Kansas City 2 3/4 Years ago. Where did you move from in MO? We have a 4 1/2 yr boy and 19month little girl. We live in Cary, not far from Durham. We got involved in a great church and love it here. It was a hard adjustment at first. The first time I moved away from all my family. Hope you like it here.

Hi Paula,
I don't know about a winery but I saw that you just moved here and were interested in a playgroup or other activities. I run a playgroup and Stroller Strides classes in the Brier Creek area and North Raleigh area (not too far from Durham). Check out our website at www.strollerstrides.net/northraleigh.
You can also check out ur MeetUp group at http://playgroup.meetup.com/860/. We would love for you to join us. Welcome to the area.

With health,
T.

Hi Paula
There is a winery called Iron Gate in Mebane that you may want to try. Their is also a wine shop called Market on Clay which is very quaint and has a nice variety of wines to try. He has wine tastings every weekend I beleive.
