My period is 6 days late. It has never been so late since my son was born. He is 3 now. I was planning to leave my husband because he is abusive and is hurting both me and our son. We did NOT have unprotected sex, we used a condom each time. I am not tired, nauseous...I had cramps and by breasts seem swollen and tender to touch ....these are my symptoms. I am sooo afraid to even go get a pregnacy test. I am so afraid I might be pregnant!!! This would be catastrophic for me. My God, I just don't know if i should keep the baby or not.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I did a test and came out negative. I am still concerned though. My period is 9 days late. If I am not pregnant, something has to be wrong. I will see a ginecologyst soon. Thank you so much for your answers!

If you had sex, are of reproductive age, and have not had a hysterectomy, then yes, you might be pregnant.
Condoms are no guarantee. Sorry.

Maybe you are and maybe you are not.
That has nothing to do with leaving him.
Do it anyway.
It could be the stress of thinking about leaving is what is throwing your cycle off.
Call a women's shelter and make it happen.

Welcome to mamapedia!!

Sorry - can't tell you if you are pregnant or not. You've had sex. Condoms are not 100% reliable.

Stop being afraid and go get a pregnancy test. If this isn't what you want - then there are options open to you. Do I agree with the options? Not my business. YOU have to make the choice AND live with it. NOT ME or anyone else.

If you are abused - pregnant or not - leave. Get to a women's shelter and they will help you get back on your feet.

Stop living in fear. Take the bull by the horns and protect yourself and your child.

Good luck!

If you had sex you could be pregnant. Condoms are not 100% effective.

Why are you having sex with him if you are planning to leave? Don't have anymore sex with him if your planning to leave.

I agree that stress can throw your cycle off.

Most importantly... If he is abusive to you and your child, get out!!! Go to a shelter.... That's why they are there for you. Women's shelters in my area are the #1 place I support financially as well as donations if anything they can use.

Be strong, get help.

I would say go get a test. Your period could be late because of stress. I know for me, the same symptoms I have for early pregnancy are the symptoms I have that my period is going to start. (Cramps, tender breasts, etc.) You'll feel better once you've tested.

E.,

I have been in a similar situation before. If you are afraid of being pregnant, I can totally understand that. My baby is now 18 and is an award winning computer technologist. I was able to get away from his abusive father, have the baby, and live a life that gave me joy with my son. I didn't have any family around, so I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help from Elizabeth's New Life Center. They offer free pregnancy tests, prenatal care, and they have a social worker who helped me find a way that was safe to get away. They are in Dayton and their number is ###-###-####. Their services are free, so at least just go in and talk to them. You may not be pregnant, but at least you would have a caring social worker who can help you plan the next step in your life. Good luck and email anytime if you have questions.

Take a pregnancy test. The Dollar store has them. Do not give in to fear. When you take action even when you are afraid you become less fearful over time. Stop thinking about leaving. Stop thinking about all that has to be done. Take the first step. Call a women's shelter for help.

Don't even consider what you would do with another baby until you know if you're pregnant. Even then take care of yourself and your child by leaving. Once you're out of the house consider the pregnancy.

If you have sex, protected or not, you COULD be pregnant. If you are currently considering leaving your hubby because he is abusive than clearly stress COULD be the cause of your late period. The symptoms you describe could be mentrual or pregnancy so just this little info alone can not tell us. You need a pregnancy test.

Condoms are not 100% foolproof. Whether you are pregnant or not, move out tonight. Why stay in the house even one more day with an abusive husband? And why have sex with one, protected or not?
