Okay, took a little more than 300 pictures on my Digital TTL Camera, NIKON. Right as I was finishing up my camera said that the card may have been corrupted and I needed to replace it or format it. Well, I put it in another camera and that camera didn't want to do anything but format it. I wouldn't let it and took it out. Tried an online restore program and it didn't work either. Do any of you techno savy moms know where I can go to get them to try to restore the 300+ pictures I took on it. Oh, I took these pictures all witiin a few hours during a parade my dance studio was in. I fear I've lost all those great pictures. I know they are there, cuz I looked thru some of them before the parade started. AND do any of you know why the card could become "corrupted" when I haven't touched it since I put it in the camera? And have used it for about 6 months. It is a 16G card. If that helps any too. UGH!!! I'm very upset, fustrated, and at a loss. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I will take the card to one of the camera stores. I know the card wasn't full b/c I've taken more than 300 pictures on that card before. I do upload them when I'm done each time. I never take the card out I just upload the pictures from the camera to my laptop and it wouldn't even do that. And unfortunately my camera doesn't have a way to save pictures directly in the camera, you have to use an SD card.
Thank you all for your help. I definately won't be using that SD card again. I'll go back to the 8GB one I had in there to begin with in the spring. Just glad that didn't happen sooner! Thanks again!!

Any chance that you can download the photos from the internal (non-SD card) memory?

Some cameras can't read cards that big, so that could explain why it didn't work in the second one. I'd try it in a photo kiosk at Walgreens or Sam's Club, and if you still can't read it, take it to a camera store and see what they say. Good luck!!!

Some computer's have SD card reader's built in or you can buy a card reader at a computer store for around $10, I'd try this to see if the pictures are readable by your computer, then download them if you can. If you can't get the pictures that way, I'd take it to a camera store or a computer store to see if they know a trick you can use to save the pictures.

Try Wolf Camera...or a professional photo development place. Also, this recently happened to my mom and the photo guy told her never to take the card out of the camera. She would take pics, then take the card, stick it in a machine and have the pics developed. He said doing that will damage or corrupt your card over time. The best thing to do is down load the pics to your computer and then transfer the ones you want to print to a flash drive and take the flash drive to the photo store. That way, if the flash drive gets damaged, you still have the pics on the computer.

Did you try to load the images onto your desktop? If not give that a try. A card should be reformatted each time you use it again. Meaning, load the photos to your desktop and back them up, then format the card to the camera you are using. That will erase everything and you will be ready to go again.

I would take it to a camera store and ask them for help. I've always found the people at Ritz/Wolf Camera to be very knowledgable and helpful. Good luck!
