Camera for 8-Year-old

Can anyone suggest a good camera for an 8-year-old? I'd like to buy one for my neice. I'm thinking of just buying a normal camera, but only spending about $100. When i look at the childrens cameras out there, they all look too young for her and more geared towards preschoolers.

What can I do next?

My daughter has a Kodak Easy Share. They used to be around 100 but I think they have come down in price a bit. It seems to be a good camera. Easy to use and takes nice pictures.

Another vote for the Kodak Easy Share. We got one for my 8-year old for Christmas, and it was around $80 at Walmart for a bundle that included the camera, a case, batteries, and a charger. She's found it easy to use and it takes great pics. We do have to remind her sometimes not to leave it on the floor, etc., but overall she's doing well with it. Lots of cameras come in cool colors now that kids will like without seeming too babyish. We do have a V-Tech also that someone gave my younger daughter - it's very durable, but the quality is not great - it's more for fun than actually taking pictures.

Don't waste your money on the toys. Two years ago, for my then 5 year old, I purchased a Kodak Share. They were originally designed for "clueless grandparents". He still usues it and sometimes even shares it with his 3.5 year old sister, who also has no trouble using it. They are between $80 and $100 at the moment.
Good luck!

My son has a nice vtech camera, it is a kids camera, but it takes a beating and you can do special effects with it.
