Cafe Mocha

I love my cafe mochas! I usually get them from Starbucks but also like them from It's a Grind. Anyways, now that I am trying to stick to a budget I can't buy them all the time. How do you make one? I cannot afford a coffee machine but didn't know if it was still possible to make. Just hoping there is a former Starbucks worker on here to give me the inside scoop! Also, I remember reading in a magazine a long time ago about combining coffee and hot chocolate cocoa mix but when I tried it it was horrible. Maybe I left out an ingredient?

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
I used to work at Starbucks. We make our mochas with mocha sauce, espresso, steamed milk and whipped cream. You can buy the mocha powder to make at home at any Starbucks, it comes in a little container and is very easy to prepare. As far as the espresso goes it is hard to duplicate without an espresso machine. I know you can buy inexpensive stove top espresso machines that work great. From there you would just need to add steamed milk and some whipped cream. Let me know if you have any questions!

If you are trying to save money, you may want to simply give it up. If you FAST coffee AND chocolate (both stimulants and addictive) for 2 to 4 weeks, both will be completely out of your system and (beleive it or not) you won't even WANT them anymore.

Good luck either way.

Blessings,

I found a recipe for the Java Chip Frap just by Googling those very words. There are a lot of copy cat recipes out there, enjoy!

$5 is a bit much these days for those treats if you ask me..whew! Hmmm....gas or coffee?

LOL

Starbucks cafe mocha got me hooked on coffee...sweet coffee (i.e. with flavored creamer and/or sugar) When I want "mocha" at home I add 1/2 a packet of hot cocoa mix to my cup of coffee. It's not a Starbucks, but it's not bad. Maybe it depends on what kind of coffee you use or the brand of cocoa.

I love Starbucks Cafe Mochas, too. Last year I started a weight loss program so I had to find an alternative. I found Splenda Mocha. I use a couple of those, and add a little more sweetner and creamer/milk to my coffee. It's not exactly Starbucks but it's really close and much more economical. The Splenda mocha packets are individual packets so I carry them in my purse to flavor my coffee when I'm at work, etc. You can get them on the coffee isle at Wal Mart or probably most grocery stores. If you try it, let me know what you think.
