Had a c-section 5 1/2 months ago and scar gets very irritated, dry, itchy. Use vitamin e oil every day. Is there anything else to make it more comfortable?

What can I do next?

my son will be 3 this year and i had an emergency c-section to deliver. I still to this day have almost zero sensation around my scar area. I did not get a lot of itch, but tightness. I used Eucerin lotion and plenty of it and it helped a lot with the dryness, and tightness from the healing. Good luck.

I have a scar from a cyst that was removed and put whipped shea butter on it. This is where I purchased it from http://www.motheranddaughters.com/sheabutter.htm

A drop or two of pure lavendar oil may also help. I usually use lavendar oil on mild burns, which it does wonders for, but I am told it is good for other skin ailments also.

I use Arbonne's Skin Conditioning Oil and Rejuvenating Cream on mine, and it smells and feels great. My scar is 2.5 years old and I just started using this, and it helps a lot with the scar's flexibility and softness. Check out my website, www.littlekris.myarbonne.com and let me know if you want to learn how to get it at an 80% discount!

It has been more than two years, and my scar is still itchy. My docotor gives me a prescribed medicine, but it makes it more uncomfortable. It looks ugly too. I would love some ideas.

Hi S.,
While I didn't have a c-section with my daughter, I've had many moles removed and without question the best thing for a surgical scar is Thiosinominum. It's a plant-based, homeopathic cream that breaks down scar tissue. I even used it on my stretch marks after my daughter's birth in April and the marks have virtually disappeared.
You might be able to find the cream at Whole Foods or through an online homeopathic pharmacy.
Good luck!

Hey S.-I had a c-section 5 months ago and it still itches sometimes but it is never irritated or dry. I dont have to put anything on it. Did you ask your doctor about this? My other friend had a c-section 3 months ago and hers got infected but is fine now. She never says anything about it. Maybe you should call your doctor.

S.,
While I haven't had a c-section, I've heard from friends who have that dabbing a bit of warm olive oil on the scar helps with the itching and dryness. I've used it periodically on an old surgery scar (from years ago and it still itches from time to time) and it seems to help.

The Body Shop makes a wonderful cocoa butter moisturizing stick...it looks like stick deodorant. I went through three of them during my pregnancy and also afterwards to help the scar from my c section heal. They also make a really thick cocoa butter body butter and all their products are natural. It really helped me. Hope it works for you! S.

I also had a C-Section with my son. Although it was 12 yrs. ago I still remember how it would itch. I used pure cocoa butter on it every day & it really helped. The scar will fade in time, especially if you had a good surgeon. From time to time mine will still itch due to the weather conditions. I still use the cocoa butter & it fades. Good Luck!

I also had a C-Section, but mine was 5 1/2 years ago. I experienced the same thing you are going through now. Always itching and bothering me. However, it slowly went away. I don't know if I just got used to it or if it's just something that takes tiime. But, 5 years later my very rarely bothers me.

The Vitamin E everyday may actually be irritating your skin. I've heard that prolonged use can do that. i had a section nine months ago and i used Cocoa Butter...it seemed to work great. I've never had any problems, but sometimes my scar does hurt a bit. You may need to see a Dermatologist if the irritation continues.
