Hello Ladies:
I developed a blot clot in the incision site after surgery. The clot was located on my left side and was kept open and repacked everyday with gauzes. Eventually, the incision site closed, but consequently I still experience pain with a hot feeling sensation around the left side of the incision. I have an appt with my OB in two-weeks, but would like to know if anyone has ever had or has this experience.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I have the same issue. I had a stitch that broke open and had to be packed until it healed up. I think what you are experiencing is scar tissue. I am a massage therapist so I deal with this constantly in my profession. Scar tissue can be broken up so it's not adhering so much to tissue around it. Fascial tissue does the same thing, it is the superficial tissue between your muscle layer and dermis. It can get sticky and hard and cause a burning sensation. I bet the site where your clot was simply filled in with a bunch of scar tissue that is now pulling on everything else. If you can feel the knot (which I can) you can start rubbing it to break up the scar tissue. Check with your doc, I will bet he/she says it's ok. Mine has been bothering me alot lately, so I started rubbing it every day breaking it up a bit and now it doesn't hurt. Good Luck!

Hi M., I experienced something similar after surgery on one of my legs. The doctor told me that the hot feeling sensation was nerve related. Mine finally went away but it took over two years and five years later I will have little twinges of it if I get in a certain position. I know that scar tissue can also cause post-op pain so I would ask your doctor about that as well. Good luck!

Hi M.,

Girlfriend, I know what you have!! I had it and SUFFERED from 04' Until 06' and my idiot OB kept telling me it was scar tissue. It is called Incisional Endometrioma!! When they clean up the c-section dirty cells embed into your scar. Usually for most the pain comes at the beginning of ovulation until the end of the menstral cycle. But it is different for all. My first year with my baby was awful because of the burning pain. Feels like someone put a hot hair iron directly on your scar. Mine was also on the left side. I even wrote Oprah telling her to do a show on this because so many women suffer from this and it goes undiagnosed!!! Dr's claim it is rare, however I have met several women who also experienced the same thing, I sent them to their dr with info in their hands...and wala - another stomach surgery later and no more pain. Surgery isn't a gurantee but it is sure as heck better than living with what you have.

I found this diagnosis on a pregnancy Q and A website. Went to several Dr's who would not listen. Finally went to our family Dr who reffered me to an oncology surgeon who did the surgery and he told me when he opened me up he saw it right away!! Some will tell you to take Hormones but it will never cure it, surgery is the only way to go.

Please email me at ____@____.com if you want to chat more! Good Luck!!

My 1st C-section hurt for the 14 months I had it, and then I had another c-section and it is now 15 mos old. It still hurts ALOT. Every day. So yeah, it happens. I have a particular way of scaring, dark, raised Keloid scars. That hurt real bad. But I have been told by my Doc that people heal from the outside in. So as good as your scar may look/heal, you can still be repairing inside.

I did the same thing with my first c-section. The burning was horrible. I was mad no one prepared me for the buring! Well most don't have it. I was told it was two things....one, scar tissue tugging and pulling...two, nerves trying to reconnect. The burning meant healing. It eventually went away after a long while and I went on to have a VBAC with with child #4 because I swore I would never have another c-section like with child #3. Then with child #5 and #6 I had to have csections again because I had blood clots.....they weren't as painful as the first time.

Be sure to explain everything very clearly to your doctor - and if you are not satisfied, get a second opinion. I had two c-sections and did not have any pain like that. 15 months is a very long time, I am sorry you have been in such discomfort.

Hi M.,
I had a somewhat situation. I had a c-section in 9/05 then 2 1/2 weeks after got a nasty infection that split my incision open (despite antibiotics) so they had to reopen my incision, drain the site, etc. I still have pain in my incision sometimes and my OB said that is normal and she has had women who had an uncomplicated c-section that have had discomfort or tenderness for up to 5 years. I didn't want to hear that necessarily but at least you know it is not unusual. I would definately point out the hot sensation to your doctor. I am not sure about that and I haven't experienced that.
