C-section and Tubes Tied

I had a c-section and it was very painful. My cousin, however, had 2 c-sections before. And the second one, she had her tubes tied. I hear after the first ceserean, the second one is much easier. She was up and walking around the next day after the baby was born and her tubes were tied. Hope this helps somewhat.

I did have a c section and a tubal all in he same time. I does take a little longer to recoup and you get funny pains in you tummy but that is about it about 3 weeks or 4 to recoup but that is all you really can't tell the difference

I had my tubes tied after my last c-section and I have to tell you that I was extremely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain for about a week. After that the pain was less and less severe until finally after about 2 weeks, I was pretty much pain free. It was considerably more painful than the first pregnancy but I would do it again in a heartbeat (not that I am able to get pregnant again anyway!). The freedom my husband and I feel when we have intercourse was worth the extra pain because we do not have to worry about any unwanted pregnancies. Of course, your husband also has the option of having a procedure done too so think about that as an alternative. Hope this helped!

I've had c-section and tubes tied at the same time. I can't compare it to just a c-section because my 1st boy was born vaginally. He was just too big and broke his collar bone during delivery, so my OBG talked me into getting a c-section on my second due to my 1st boys size. I didn't like the c-section at all and I also felt uncomfortable wearing anything snug, like jeans, for a while. But, I have to say, I don't think it makes much difference pain wise. I've also had my gall bladder removed and had almost the same amount of pain, just in a different area. I think it is beneficial to have the c-section and tube tied at the same time. This way, you only have to go through the pain once. And by the way, my post pardom(sp?) was way worse on my second pregnancy. I think it was because I realized that I wasn't going to have any more children. I am now perfectly ok with not having any more since I have 2 VERY active boys, but I still want another every now and again. I have found that babysitting my friends babies helps me get through that. Hope this helps in your decision.

I also had a c-section with my first child. She was breech so it was the only safe way to deliver her. My second and third child were also delivered by c-section. I was hoping for a VBAC but after doing research we decided against it. The second and third c-sections are MUCH easier. You are sore in the hospital but my doctor had said that the first time your stomach is cut is it much worse, he was right. It is amazing how much faster you heal. I had my tubes tied during the birth and did not notice anything different. My son is now 7 months old and everything is "back to normal". Good luck.

Hello... I had my tubes tied same time as my c-section. I had the same amount of discomfort as my first c-section. I was glad to have it done at the same time, rather then going under anesthesia again after my 6 week check up. Didn't make any sense to me why I would want to wait and go and have surgery all over again.

It is well worth it. They are already in there, so might as well do it.. Any questions you can ask me...

I had my tubes tied. I didn't have a c-section. The only thing about getting my tubes tied was that my insicion was very painful. I couldnt really sit up straight or stand up straight for a few weeks. And I couldnt lift any thing heavier than my baby. That was a little hard because at that time my oldest daughter was 18 months old and always wanted to be held. I never had any cramping or anything like that.

I have had three c-sections. The first one is the worst. The second and third were much, much better recovery. I had my tubes tied on the third, I think it's better to do it while you're already on the table. The recovery was no different from the second. The key is to walk as much as possible - as painful as it can be in the beginning, it helps more than anything else to speed recovery.

I had this done. It was a breeze for me. I didn't have a hard time at all with my c-section but was a little tender in my tummy for a few weeks but other than that everything was fine. The only think that was different for me after having my tubes tied was my first period I had was a little more painful and heavy. My sister on the other hand had her tubal several years after having her children and it was very very rough on her. But as I hear its different with every woman.

I agree with most of the other women here. I had 2 c-sections and during my second one had a tubal. I believe that I was up and about much quicker after the second one. I don't think that the tubal had any effect on the recovery. In fact I am glad I did it then and not later on in a seperate procedure.

One of the girls did mention to make sure that is what you want. I had a bit of post pardum because of it...knowing that my son was my last baby, then he had some health issues, etc.

I didn't have a c-section, but I had my tubes tied after my third child. I didn't really feel any pain after it was done. My stomach was a little tender for awhile, but since you're having a c-section I doubt that you will feel anything from the tubal because the c-section is a much more invasive procedure. The only real pain that I had was my shoulder hurt because of the air that they pumped into me to see what they were doing. That only lasted a day. After I was able to get up and walk around again, the rest of the discomfort went away.

No difference for me. I had it done it took 10 minutes after the baby was out and I recovered beautifully. And now I am so glad I did at that time.

I have had three c-section with the tubes being tied after the second(yes the tubes mended back together after the second)and the third. It's best to have the tubes tied while you are already on the operating table.I really didn't feel any different after the procedures(you are going to have pain regardless ,if you have the tubes tied are not).Don't think that because you have your tubes you will never be pregnant again(the doctor told me the only thing that are 100% is absentience) because that are only reliable for only 5 years, any time after that you have a chances of getting pregnant. I don't mean to scare anyone but ,my son is a living testament. I became pregnant 10 years after I had my tubes tied . A real shocker and joy of my life.Good luck with what ever you choose.

Hi B., well i had the procedure that you are asking about. When my youngest son was born i had to have an emergancy c-section but i already decided before i gave birth that i was going to get my tubes tied afterwards. well seeing as i had to have a c-section i asked my doctor to tie my tubes while he already had me open instead of haveing to wait 2 days after delivery. I was un comfortable for maybe 2 wks but i think that was just part of the c scetion. Now i will tell you this, i can feel when i ovelate now. It is a very strange feeling and its almost like cramping but only on one side. I have grown to accept it and actually use that as how close i am to starting my period.

I had my second baby in August of last year, and I had my tubes tied at the sametime.... I didn't have a problem recouping after my first c-section so I had no concern for the second one.... That being said I had no problems with having my tubes tied either... I was a bit sore but at my 2 week check up I was fine.... My only suggestion to everyone is not to read all the books and listen to what everyone says the more positive you go into it the better everything goes.. I didn't read one book during my first pregnancy, my husband did and if I had a concern I would tell him and he would just tell me if it was normal or if I should mention it to my doctor and everything went perfect.... Same with the second except for a few minor medical problems... Anyway, long story short I had no problems with getting my tubes tied.....

I had vaginal labor the first time around and an emergency c-section the second time. Since I was already open, I asked the doc to go ahead and tie my tubes. It was pretty painful afterwards, but it's already painful because of the c-section, so you can't really tell what's causing the pain. I know that you will feel a burning sensation (discomfort) in your ovaries for about a month, but after that it's over and you are done! My daughter was born 6 months ago and I am so releaved that I don't have to worry about birth control... I strongly recommend it. Also, if you wait to have your tubes tied later, then you're looking at major surgery and another hospital visit that may not be practical with two kids.

I have not had personal experience with this but my aunt (who lives in Canada) had this procedure done. She planned on having her tubes tied and during an emergency c-section they were able to also tie her tubes. Good Luck!!

Like most other women here, I had my done at the same time of my 2nd c-section and had no trouble. I actually felt the 2nd c-section was much easier and was back on my feet much quicker. I had my daughter on Friday morning and by Sunday noon I was begging the doctors to send me home. I can't imagine going through another surgery to get my tubes tied at a later date.

I did and I feel my recovery time was the same as with my first c-section. I think if you are certain you are going to do it, it is the best time to do so. If not now then when and who would help you with the recovery later? I am happy with my choice and I think if you are 100% sure you want to have your tubes tied and you are happy with your doctor then you will be happy with your choice. I had it done last August with my second child. Both births were c-section. The recovery this time was much quicker than the first time. The only other thing I had this time was a little bit of muscle tenderness like if you worked out too much on your tummy. I was told this was from everything being moved and pushed around and stuff and that it was completely normal. My first c-section took me almost 2 weeks to feel semi normal and able to semi function, this time I had my son on Monday, home on Wednesday and doing laundry by Friday! Good Luck!!!

I also had my tubes during my c-section, it was my first, as I delivered normaly prior to that. I could not imagine that having your tubes tied would have anything to do with your discomfort after a c-section. I was fine after 2 weeks (no real hurtful pain) & back to wearing normal clothes and no discomfort after 6-8 weeks. I was up and down all the time (I had twins with the c-section) and only hurt along the incision. I would never want to be subjected to another surgery. Getting it done while you are there is the only choice that makes sense. Since there are always risks with any kind of surgery (even tubals) I would minimize your exposure to the risks by getting it done at one time.

I hope this is helpful, we all have to make the choice we are comfortable with, but I am sure you will not notice any real difference in pain afterwards.

Hi B.~By the age of 23 I was having my third child via-c section. At the same time, I figured I could get a tubal. I had no problem recovering from both procedures at once. In fact, I am glad that it was all one pain and discomfort. I have no horror storied to share because all went well.

The only think I can say is, please make sure this is what you want. I was very young and I ended up getting a divorce. At the age of 36, I had a tubal-reversal to have just one more child in my second marriage. If only I had used some other type of birth control...this would not have been as costly nor as painful to concieve. Again, just make sure that this is for you. Good Luck.

I didn't have a c section.. I had mine natural and than the next day had my tubes tied. Truthfully it bothered me more to sit and such from giving birth than my tubal did. I did for like 2 days need help getting up, but that's because they went through my belly button and my mid drift was sore. But I was taking care of twins 2 days after the surgery... so it wasn't that bad. But it also has to do with your pain tolerance. Hope that helps. Good luck.
