I'm glad that pantyhose have gone out of favor, in general, but I'm with you that wearing closed dress shoes with no stockings give me blisters. Sorry, but my feet sweat and even well-fitting shoes get uncomfortable after awhile. I would try the "footie" socks that Fanged Bunny mentioned if I had to wear heels.

What I normally wear are pants/slacks with nice tops/sweaters and either dress sandals or ankle boots, depending on the season. Ankle boots and pants allow me to wear cotton socks (yay!).

If the shoes fit, you won't get blisters.
If they don't fit - wearing stockings or not will not make any difference - blisters will happen.
I hate pantyhose so I stick with pants suits and wear knee highs or socks.

I haven't worn pantyhose in YEARS. Sometimes I'll wear very sheer black tinted stockings or fine nude fishnet if I am getting really dressed up, and that's only for evening parties.
And I like tights in the winter, especially with boots and a shorter skirt.
Not sure why you would get blisters? The only time my heels give me any trouble is when I'm first breaking them in. Once the leather is softened up I can wear them no problem. I mean, it's not like office or party functions require you to be walking all day. Mostly you're just sitting or standing for short periods.

Pantyhose are not trendy. Many women forgo them, even when they are in a skirt suit. I continue to see them being worn by women attorneys however. I think in part because it is a conservative profession, in part because they wouldn't want to compromise their client because the judge or jury looks on their lack of stockings disfavorably.

If you go without stockings you can wear those nude slipper socks, they are sold in the drug store/ department store near the stockings & hose.

Business casual is dress pants and a top, or a casual skirt (not the bottom half of a skirt suit), usually without stockings. It's how my office dresses for work every day. Today I have on a knit A-line skirt (which I wear with fitted shorts underneath to avoid "c*** rub"), a sleeveless top, a cardigan, and peep-toe heels. During the winter, my colleagues and I will wear colored tights with skirts, but rarely does anyone wear traditional pantyhose. I'll put on stockings if a client is coming to visit or I'm giving a presentation but otherwise, I would look old-fashioned.

If you never wear hosiery, your feet get used to it. I sometimes get an occasional blister when switching to a pair of shoes I haven't worn in a while (when changing seasons, for example) but other than that, my feet are fine wearing dress shoes without hosiery.

No hose or stockings needed. And the ladies are correct, if the shoes fit properly, you should not be getting blisters.

And it totally depends on what type of job you have, heck I was called for jury duty and the female Judge and female attorneys were in bare legs with suits or pants.. Some even had on open toed shoes. I noticed because the Attorney had a nice pedicure.

Business casual is no jeans, no t-shirt material tops unless you are wearing a light jacket or light cardigan over it. No sleeveless.

I don't wear pantyhose. They give me crotch rot.
I only wear stockings with garters and then only for cosplay purposes.
Otherwise, I put bare feet into my dress shoes.

I haven't worn pantyhose in years, but I don't work in a conservative work environment (e.g., law firm, bank). I'm also on the West Coast, which is dramatically different than the East Coast when it comes to standard business attire. But, it sounds like your office/job is not particularly formal, sot you would probably be fine without stockings.

If you're worried about it, wear slacks.

I'm not into foot pain, so whenever I have to dress up, I wear boots or flats. You could invest in a pair of d’orsay flats instead of heels, they would probably be less likely to give blisters and still look dressy.

As for how people avoid blisters, when I lived in Washington DC I always saw women in their running shoes and nice suits headed to work, where they wear their heels while walking to their office or cubicle then slip them off again once their feet are hidden under the desk.

As for stockings (pantyhose?) I don't think women wear them much anymore, but I know a ton of women who wear Spanx under pants to smooth things out and hide underwear lines.

It seems super casual to me when people do this for business and other formal events. I think you can get small peds that fit in your shoes without being visible, but bare legs seem far too weekend-casual to me.

Kate Middleton is wearing pantyhose and I've heard that it's helping to bring it back.

I can't find the link - but there are peek-a-boo hose/nylons that are great for sandals...

I'm in Texas I haven't seen anyone where hose to work in at least a decade. I do see women wear tights in the winter with boots. I think this maybe different if you live in a colder climate its too hot here.

There are dressier open toe shoes that are appropriate for work.

Nice blouse, accessorize, nice skirt or slacks and your golden ;)

If you have ugly skin on your legs, come on, I HAVE UGLY LEGS! I'd wear something that gives a bit of coverage.

IF you have varicose veins or spider veins you probably want to wear some hose to at least let the eye not see them so defined. The hose would break it up a bit and allow some sheen where someone wouldn't be noticing that you don't have on hose because they can count the lines on your calves.

If your skin is pretty on your legs then shave em up tonight and wear something comfortable and go bare legged tomorrow.

If it's chilly you could wear some colored tights or even some knee high boots too.

Panty hose are a creation of the devil. Nope. No one wears them in AZ unless it is "cold" out or they just moved here from Boston or they are over 70.

Stockings still rule in a conservative world (attorneys, in Washington DC and anywhere somewhat stuffy). In today's not so conservative times, no more stockings are needed.

Personally, I wouldn't wear a skirt on an interview without stockings.

For your evening event, I think you're fine with no stockings or just wear slacks.

I keep from getting blisters by wearing shoes that fit my feet well. It's that simple.

Stockings are old-fashioned but they aren't out of fashion, as long as you wear a color that complements your skin and you don't wear them with open-toed shoes. In fact, I see legs all the time that I think should benefit from the covering of stockings. If they will pull your look together in a way that makes you feel comfortable, wear them.

Business casual for a woman could be, simply, slacks and shirt; skirt and blouse; casual suit. But if you are more comfortable looking more "business" than "business casual", that's okay, too.

I love opaque hose. But, actually black sheer hose are making a comeback. I will buy some whenever I get extra funds.

I go in and out with wearing heels. When I get in a rut, I tend to buy flats. Then, I catch my reflection in a mirror: matronly and go I back to heels for a period.

If you are wearing pants, no need for hose.

Those women who already wear business attire daily will probably raise the bar a little for this party.. Do not get left behind, raise your own bar.

Women need to look nice occasionally even if pain is involved--just my opinion..

I wear business casual to work daily. I only wear hose in the winter when I wear a dress. In the summer when I wear a dress I am hose less. In the summer I wear business capris and a blouse most days.

never wear anything to a business related party that you dont want talked about in front of the water cooler the next day. stockings and pantyhose are not old fashioned, they keep the office busybody from "noticing" you missed a spot while shaving your legs, or have varicose veins. wear a nice dress to the office party, nothing too revealing, too clingy or too short..and dont forget to wear a slip. you want your boss to remember talking to you about the next project, you dont want him to remember you "falling" out of your blouse.change into your dress shoes when you get to the office party, take a pair of sensible shoes with you.
