Brown Line on Pregnant Tummy

I'm 26.5 weeks pregnant with a little girl and I haven't developed a brown line (linea nigra) on my tummy yet. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a super dark line by this point in my pregnancy.

Are there other moms who had the line for one pregnancy and didn't have it in another? Did it matter whether you were pregnant with a boy or a girl? Just wondering!

What can I do next?

I hear you only get that line with boys cause I had the same thing with my son. I am now 32 weeks pregnant with a girl and I don't have that line. It could just be another myth but that's why I'm guessing that we don't have the brown line...LOL

Hi L.,

You dind't state if you were concerned about the line or not. So just to ease your mind if you are, I wasn't able to have the pleasure of being pregnant again, but with my firtst pregnancy I never had a line at all. My pregnancy and birth was, well, couldn't be any more perfect :) So I don't think this is anything to be concerned about. I hope this helps :) I wish you the best of luck. Regarding the parent-toddler class, I attended the class with my son and it was a wonderful experience. Wish I could do it again. There are some wonderful MOMS out there. Good Luck with All. If you have any ?'s please email me.

I had the brown line with my daughter (my first). I am due any day (another daughter) with my second and have NO brown line. Every pregnancy is different. The baby is healthy andy measures great, so I don't think it means anything if it shows up or not.

Hi L.! Congrats on your pregnancy! With my 1st pregnancy, a boy, I had a line all the way up my belly. My 2nd pregnancy, a girl, I got it, but it only went half way up my belly to my belly button. I am 30 weeks with another girl, and I have a very faint line that doesn't even come half way to my belly button. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

Hi L.,
I had faint lines if any for both of my girls, 5 yrs old and 2 1/2. Hope this helps in your polling.

If you are looking for a great childbirth method, I used HypnoBirthing for both of my girls. I teach this method in downtown Rochester, go to www.YourPeacefulBirthing.com for more info. I loved it both times it helped me to relax.

Good Luck!
J.

I didn't have it for either of mine and I have a girl and boy. I think it has more to do with your skin tone and hormones.

Congrats! Love them lots and prepare them will to release them into the world.

I didn't have it with either of my kids (1 boy, 1 girl). I think it's one of those things that sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't. :)

Hi L.,

I wouldn't worry. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. I never had it, and a friend of mine got it right under her nose...like a mustache :)

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

When I was pregnant with my son I waited for that line ... and it never showed up. I am pregnant now but it is too early to tell. I really don't think it is anything to be concerned about(if you are that is), it doesn't indicate a healthy or unhealthy pregnancy. I doubt it has anything to do with the sex of the baby either. It is interesting though!

I had twin boys and I never got the dark line. I was also pregnant while 5 other girls at work were and none of us had them. Not sure why that is!

I am almost 27 weeks too (april 29th) and have not gotten the line yet and I did with my first pregnancy. Both are boys. This pregnancy is so different from my first so I am going to assume that I may not get it. I also have not gained as much with this pregnancy.

By the way I have a 2.5 year old son too.

Good luck!

You tend to get the linea nigra when pregnant with boys. It has something to do with the hormones.
