Britax --- Need Suggestions Please!

We would like to purchase the most safe carseat for our baby when she is done with her infant carrier. I have started my research and everything seems to point to Britax. We are fine making this substantial purchase, but would like to make it a one time purchase if possible. What are your recommendations? What are the differences in the various seats that britax makes? Am I missing a better brand? Is there one seat that she can have both rear facing and forward facing? Thank you so much, we greatly appreciate!

What can I do next?

I have a Boulevard for my 1 year old. It goes up to 65 lbs and can be rear and forward facing. My 4 year old daughter is in a Regent which goes up to 80 lbs, but it is forward facing only. It has a min. weight requirement of 22 lbs. I will keep my son in the Boulevard until he is 65 lbs and transfer him to my daughter's Regent beacause at that point she will have outgrown her seat. (They are almost 3 years apart) Here is a website that might help you decide which seat is best for you:

Watch the video, it's heartbreaking but super informative. If you search throught the website they have all sorts of wonderful information.

Both of my kids (4 and 6) are in the Britax Regent. We also have a Marathon and a Roundabout (they've outgrown the Roundabout - this is what I bought as a convertible seat for my first when she was done w/her infant) I should have gotten the Marathon at that time though because it goes to 49 inches/65 lbs. This seat is in my husband's car and both of my kids still fit in it. I can't speak for any other Britax's and I can't recommend the Regent to you because it can't be used rear facing and you should keep your little one rear facing as long as possible. But I do agree that Britax seats are great, however I've said this before here - the best seat on the market is the one installed correctly, so make sure whatever you get that it is installed right.
Best wishes,
M.

I did the same research when purchasing for my son, now 4 years old. Britax is by far, the best car seat out there, both in terms of safety as well as being easy to use. I bought the roundabout, simply because it lasts for up to 47 pounds, and my thought were that when he is 47 pounds he will be ready for a booster. And sure enough, he is not even 40 pounds and already in a booster.

We love Britax! They are easy to install, clean, and stay looking good for years. We had a Roundabout but that only lasts for 40lbs. My daughter outgrew hers by height before she was 40lbs. We chose the RB because it was the only one at the time that fit in our car rear facing, I had a Cherokee. There are several Britax seats that can be used forward and rear facing. It really depends on what fits your car the best. Go to your nearest Babies R Us if you can. They will let you bring the seats out to your car to see what fits the best.

We now own 2 Regents for my 4yr old and 6 yr old. I will keep my kids in 5pt harness seats for as long as possible. My son likes his better than a regular booster. He says that it is more comfortable and he feels safer. (He is only 6. His friends keep saying that he is in a baby seat until I explain that this is a big kid seat.)

My daughter has been in the Boulevard since she was a newborn. She is a big 4, now wearing size 5 clothing, but she still fits in it. She has almost outgrown her other seat in our other vehicle and just uses a booster in her sisters car for short trips. If I were to do it again, it would be Britax again! The Britax supports her head much better if she falls asleep too.

We have the decathalon and we love it. It is a large enough seat that as long as my daughter is legally required to be in a seat, this one will work. We have had no issues at all with this seat - easy to move, use, wash, etc.
