Hi Ladies!
I have always had a manual breast pump, but I think I want an electric one now. I would love to only spend around $100 and it also be a dual pump, not just a single. I have read reviews on some, but they werent that great. Is it possible to get all of that for $100? And how do you feel about electric ones? Like I said, I have always had manual.

What can I do next?

You will LOVE an electric, makes a world of difference. I bought a new MiPump (or a name close to this) Double electric pump on Walmart.com for around $100. I didn't have to pay shipping since I had it shipped Site-to-Store, and it came pretty fast. I really liked it, I would get at least 6-8 ounces in about 10-15 minutes with it! It took me a long time pumping to get much out of a manual so I broke down and bought the electric and wished I would have had it before my son was born because it would have come in handy.

I used the Medela double pump, which I borrowed from my sister in law. I had no idea how expensive they were until right now when I went to look it up, but it's possible you could get one used off of craigslist or at a just between friend's sale (jbfsale.com) I know I've seen them there.

I have a dual electric and love it! I'm not sure you can get them for $100 unless you're willing to get one used...which I did from a friend.

The Lansinoh pump might be a good option for you- it's made by Ameda and is basically their Purely Yours without some of the accessories.

I had a Medela double electric, and couldn't have lived without it. I bought mine off a friend as well, but know they are for sale for $100 (sometimes a little less) on Craigslist. They are well worth whatever you pay and are very durable. You can sterilize the tubing and shields with Medela's microsteam bags (think someone else already mentioned that)- each bag gets 20 uses, so they are great for keeping your parts clean!

i used an ameda which was a double and i loved it. however, if i had it to do again, i wouldn't spend the money for the double. it was extremely awkward to try and pump on both sides at the same time. if you can get a single with a really good motor, like a medela or ameda, that might be a better option. Also, if you are dead set on a double, the ameda doesn't have milk flowing through the tubes, so it is really easy to sanitize. so, if you did go with a used one, don't be afraid of other peoples germs because they are super easy to clean. I would not suggest wasting your money on a double pump that is "cheap", although $100 isn't cheap. when it comes to a pump, you have to have a good motor or it's useless. good luck

Hey there- I was lucky enough to get a handd me down from a friend. But I will tell you I couldn't have done it without the double electric. I'm on my third kid with it now. Its the medela which I think they are around 250 new, but really worth it in the long run. They will last forever. I just had to replace the plug and that's the first thing in four years. Good luck with the pumping :)!

I have a Playtex Embrace that worked great! Coincidentally, I was planning to sell it on a Garage Sale next week. There are microwave-steam bags available at Baby's-R-Us that are great for sterilizing the tubes and parts so everything is completely sanitary. If interested, let me know. I was planning to sell it for $50. Happy hunting! ____@____.com

You DEFINITELY should get a double. Re: the comment by the woman who said it was awkward to do it because you needed both hands, there are pumping bras that are like sports bras with holes in them that you put the cup through so you can pump hands free. I was able to check email or read or talk on the phone when I pumped. And electric pumps are SO much faster. I would be done in 10 minutes. They are expensive, but they are definitely worth the money.

I ended up buying the Ameda Purely Yours, and I thought it was just as great as the one I had rented from the hospital. I think it was around $125 or so, which is much more affordable than most and I loved it. I used it a lot, since my daughter had such difficulties nursing, but I still wanted her to have my milk. I used it for all feedings from the time she was 4mo-9mo. You can either plug it in or use batteries if you are ever in a place where there isn't an outlet.

Oh, I got it from Diapers.com, and I believe they often have discounts if it is the first order you have placed.

Wishing you the best!
