What do you serve for breakfast on Christmas morning? I'm looking for something quick and easy, or something that can cook while we open the gifts. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

An egg casserole or a French Toast Casserole. I usually go French Toast because I don't like egg casseroles that much. The most time consuming thing about the French Toast Casserole is cutting up the bread. It also smells so good when it's cooking.

My gramma used to make Banana bread for us. We would have that warm with butter on it after opening presents. That tradition lives on in my house. I've done monkey bread too and some times I feel so inclined to make a big breakfast, but always, we have the banana nut bread.

Either monkey bread or a Hungarian, sour cream coffee cake that is super easy to make and is SOOOOO yummy. Let me know if you want the recipe. :)

We always have a mix of savory & sweet. Our favorites are a chorizo strata - kind of like a savory breadpudding with eggs, milk, chorizo sausage, peppers, cilantro and cornbread (it sounds complicated, but you just throw all that stuff into a big greased 9x13 or lasagne pan and cook it for about an hour). And then our other favorite sweet thing is a cinnamon roll french toast casserole - you use the pillsbury cinnamon roles chopped up mixed with egg & milk, bake it & put frosting on top once it cools. Sometimes we'll add something healthier like cut up fruit salad, yogurt. Always we have juice, coffee, mimosas or hot chocolate.

We have French Toast Custard and scrambled eggs!

The french toast custard is so yummy and you make it the night before, then pull it out of fridge when you wake up, let it come to room temperature and then bake for an hour.

Its perfect!

I usually like to cook, but Christmas morning is NOT one of those times! Every year I either make a breakfast casserole on Christmas Eve to just heat up in the morning, OR I do a thing of Pillsbury orange cinnamon rolls and some hot chocolate. Those are my go to breakfasts when I know we're going to be festive and happy, but NOT in the kitchen for awhile. We gotta eat, and my husband is freakish about eating within 30 minutes after getting up, so we gotta eat something soon, and I am NOT going to interrupt or hold off on gifts so we can do breakfast. Ugottabekiddinme. So, to keep the peace and tummies full, I think those 2 are easy ways to compromise (and both are very rare for us to eat, so either way it's "special" to us).

I have the PERFECT suggestion!
Three words:
Creme Brulee Frech Toast.

Soooooooo good. And easy.
You prepare the pan of it the night before & pop it in the oven in the morning. It can bake while you open gifts.
You can find it easily on allrecipes.com.

Enjoy!

You could do some sweet breads before Christmas (cranberry, banana, whatever you like). Also, an easy egg breakfast would be scramble some eggs and brown some honey sausage, saute some peppers/onions, toss it all together in a casserole dish with a bit of cheese, and you have a wonderful, yummy breakfast for the family. Add juice, coffee, tea. Your family will thank you.

We ALWAYS have pigs in a blanket - sausages (precooked) wrapped up in cresent rolls or biscuit dough and baked. And I usually bake muffins on Christmas Eve -we eat some fresh and the rest go with breakfast on Christmas morning. Along with some fresh fruit - bananas, oranges etc.

I'm chiming in with Stephanie, we do an egg skillet omelet thing. Scramble the eggs, package of hashbrowns, onion, bacon, mushrooms, or whatever pour it in a skillet and let it cook. Then slice it out like a pie. YUM

Cookies, candy from the stockings, coffee and hot chocolate. We eat non-stop the rest of the day, so breakfast is pure junk. It's Christmas, afterall!

Really fresh and excellent bagels you can toast and slather with whatever you like. Make it a "bagel bar" with lots of toppings if you want.

We don't really do a big Christmas dinner so we tend to have a nice cooked breakfast instead. Growing up, my brother started a tradition of cooking a major brunch after the presents -- steak, eggs, hash browns, etc. Just having coffee and rolls beforehand and the real feast later, and then snacking the rest of the day instead of messing with cooking meals.

We always open gifts Christmas morning at my parents' house, and my mom makes either "sticky buns" or "monkey bread." We also eat leftovers from Christmas Eve ;)

We treat ourselves to cinamon rolls as we open our stockings. Then later in the morning we do a brunch at the inlaws. I make quiches the day before, we also have some hot pastrami and cheese and a variety of fruits.

Last year we did a breakfast casserole. You can prep it the night before and put it in the oven in the morning. You can easily google a recipe but it's basically bread topped with sausage or meat of your choice, veggies, cheese, and then the egg and milk mixture poured on top. It's good served with fresh fruit.

My mom always makes monkey-bread the night before and then just throws it in the oven in the morning while we start opening stockings. It's a pretty easy thing to prepare the night before and it's become a family tradition and must have on Christmas morning. As our family has grown we also buy those mini quiches from Costco. If you'd like the recipe, feel free to message me!

How about breakfast burritos- you can cook up eggs, peppers, onions and sausage in the oven, cut into squares, wrap in tortilla topped with sour cream, cheese and salsa, and whatever else you'd like.

Precooked, oven toasted waffles are good too. top with a selection of fruit, ice cream, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, etc. (breakfast & dessert all in one, why not, it is x-mas).

then after we open presents I usually fix what the majority wants - something hot....like french toast or pancakes...
