My son just turned 4 and I am looking to send him to a school next year (PK4) where he will continue at least through elementary. He is currently at Adventures in Learning in Brandon. I am looking for a school that is nurturing, but also places a premium on education. I've visited Brandon academy and Seffner Christian Academy so far. I have my first impressions, but wanted to hear opinions based on personal experience of others or things that you have heard. Other recommendations are also welcome.

What can I do next?

I have friends who have sent their children to both schools and have been very pleased. However, I have another friend who didn't send her child to Seffner because she felt it was too strict and military-like - she opted for Brandon Academy.
Good luck.

None of the private schools in Brandon can really compare to Brandon Academy. They are the only school in Brandon with a real accreditation and they recently won the Blue Ribbon Award. They are also curriculum based and not religiously or militarily based.

My son goes to Tampa Bay Christian School on Kings Ave in Brandon. He had been falling behind in public school, but now he is excelling in every subject. This is a wonderful school, small and everyone knows everyone. Good luck in your school quest.

I would highly recommend Central Baptist. I was going to send my kids there but wasnt able to at the time. Once they get into Kindy they will go there. This fall my girls will be attending Children's Kastle for VPK in Valrico off Lumsden. They have a Christian learning style which is the same that they learn at Central. HTH

My daughter is 9 and has been going Central Babtist Christian School since age 4. I love it, but more important so does she. It is a lot smaller than Seffner Christian, and I believe they get a little more one on one time. I have two friends that have their children at Seffner, and they love it also. Between the two of them they have 6 kids from 1st grade up to 9th grade. Central Babtist is on Windhorst between Parsons and Kings Way if I were you I would go and check them out. I really love this school. My church is First Babtist on Parsons they also have an elementry school program.

Hi,

My all 3 kids are in public school, however many of my friends had kids in the two schools that you mentioned. Most of them have their kids now (after a year or two in brandon Academy or Seffner Christian) at a private school next to YMCA on Kingsway. And they all seem to be very happy. Uufortunately, I do not remember the name of the school right now, but it is just south of Brandon YMCA. They are very good as far as the academics go and very caring teacher. Since I have 3 kids, I really never looked into private as it would be too expensive for me. If you can't find the school, let me know, and I will ask one of my friends for the name. FYI ...I believe it is a church based school.
