Bradley Method Vs. Lamaze

We've heard some great things about the Bradley Method, and I was wondering if anyone has taken both Bradley classes and Lamaze classes who might have some thoughts on the two. Of course, everyone will be different, but I'd love to hear what those of you who've been through it think.

Also, does anyone know of any Bradley classes offered in or near south Irving?

Thanks!
C.

I took both. I also used Linda Worzer. I preferred the Bradley Method.

I would also highly recommend Linda Worzer for Bradley classes. They're great because the involve the husband too. Also, you'll get lots of back rubs :). Even if you don't go all natural, you will learn a lot and be very thankful for it.

She's also a doula so if you've considered getting one, she's a fabulous resource. If she can't assist, she'll be able to recommend someone who works with your personalities which is important.

My husband and I decided to give birth all natural at the Women's Birthing center in Dallas. They made me take Bradley.
I really enjoyed the class and my husband learned so much about child birth and caring for an infant. Bradley teach you positions and massage techniques.
During the first few hours, My husband and I were able to try several different things we had learned in Bradley BUT when it came down to the actual LABOR, the pain was so strong, I couldn't do anything but breath. My mom had told me the entire time I was pregnant that I needed to take Lamaze classes but I didn't listen. I was about to give up and I started to doubt that I could get through it and that's when she starting teaching me breathing methods and focal techniques she knew from Lamaze. I'm telling you... If i didn't have that, I would have gone insane!

I recommend you take both classes if you are planning on giving birth all natural. Good luck.

Congratulations!
V.

I took Bradley and loved it. Can not compare to lamaze except my MIL used to teach in the 70's and she got on board w/ Bradley when she started reading our class material.

Linda Worzer's class is THE BEST and she is the sweetest lady.

I have 2 ladies in my area who teach Bradley, contact me offlist if you want their contact info (____@____.com). It depends on the teacher a lot of times too as to how both differ. They both teach in Hurst right outside of Irving so it would be close to you. I would also check out a newer method, which many Bradley teachers are switching to called Baby Body Birth, you can find out more at www.babybodybirth.com. Congrats, enjoy this awesome time!

I would take Bradley classes. I have not taken lamazze, but I heard Bradley was much better. They have a 96% success rate of going natural. I would take classes from Linda Worzzer in Richardson. I know it is far but she is sooo worth the drive! She is a wonderful and beautiful person. She is known for being the best in the area.

I took Lamaze with my first child and Bradley with my second. Bradley was much better. I really loved our classes! We used Donna Ryan in Mansfield. She was great, I believe she's on the Bradley website.
