Booster Seat in Car

We have a Graco Nautilus and it is a really good seat for us. My son is 3 years old, 40 lbs and 40 inches. I don't think being a lower weight matters since it has a 5 point harness. This seat will keep him in a harness up to 65 lbs and then converts to a booster and backless booster (up to 100lbs). We are expecting this to last until he no longer needs a booster. There is a comparable Britax seat (with a harness not just a booster)that cost more and maybe a few more models I saw online only.

i have 3 of them for all 3 of my children. they are fine. i have short children, so sometimes the seatbelt does not sit the way it should--over the neck insted of the shoulder, but if your child is tall then it shouldn't be an issue.

I have the Graco Nautilus and the First Years Tru Fit. Please give your child the best gift you can and continue to harness. My son is almost 4.5 and I just put him in the Tru Fit and also bought the Nautilus a couple months ago. I can't imagine using just a seatbelted booster. They are not strong enough to brace themselves upon impact in a accident, nor can they possibly be aware of an impending accident. I bought both for different reasons. The Graco sounds more like what you want it for-it will grow with your child, up to 100lbs {goes harness-less (over 65lbs), then backless booster}. Through Walmart.COM, you can get it cheaper than anywhere else. I got it for $134, in January, but now see it has gone up, but is still cheaper there.

I have Cosco tall booster seats and they came with an optional harness-style seat belt attachment, like a car seat, for when the child is under 40lbs. I didn't use it, because my children fit in the style of car seat I had until they were 40lbs. or more.

I had to move my 3 1/2 yo into a booster about 3 months ago since my now 10 month old was out growing the infant carrier (as babies both my kids were/are off the chart for weight) and I did not want to buy another convertible car seat. I got the Graco Turbo Booster. It is from 30 to 100 lbs and 38 to 57 inches tall. It has a removable back for when the kids get bigger. And my son's favorite part are the cup holders.

Check your state laws. They usually require the child to be 4 years old AND 40lbs to move into a booster. Also, most local fire depts will look at your car seats and tell you what needs to be done. Good luck.

I personally love the Graco Airbooster. It starts at 30# it's super comfy because of the air supported seat. It adjusts naturally with their body weight. Good for tall and lanky and more compact little guys.. it's more expensive but I think it's worth it.

I thnk the cosco highrise booster is the one my dad got, it does NOT work in a minivan which has the seat belt coming off the seat instead of the side of the vehicle, the seatbelt doesn't react properly with it

I have a Graco Nautilus. This gives you a five point harness up to 65 lbs., and then a "standard" booster up to 100 lbs. I believe the weight limit starts below 30 lbs. on this one, since it can be used as a forward facing at 1 year of age.

I am so glad you posted this because I am looking for the same thing. I have twins who are both a little over 30 pounds so I took them to Buy Buy Baby and the guy in there was very nice. He told us that we can get the Graco booster seats with the backs. The ones without a back are for kids from 40 pounds up. He took the ones with the back down so we can have the girls sit in them. Well, 1 of them is a 1/2" too short. The seatbelt would come right across her throat. My FIL told me about those "high rise" seats last night. I don't know if I trust them. If my daughter is the right weight but too short for one with a back, how is she the right size for some $20 backless seat?!? I am so confused. I think I feel safer with the ones with the back... they are fine up to 100 pounds. Once your child hits 40 you can take the back off and it's just like any ohter backless booster seat.

NO ONE should be moving a 30# child to a booster!!!! Generally, the law is 4 y.o AND 40 pounds, but regardless, a child that small is NOT ready for a booster. They simpy are not as safe being in a 5-point harness. A child that small in a regaular booster will not have the seatbelt hitting them in the right spot and could face severe injury or even death in a crash. Definitely go with something like the Graco Nautilus that can harness longer.

The main one is a Britax and that is the safest on the market. That one goes up to 65 lbs. Good luck

After much research I just purchased two convertible boosters that range from 30-100 lbs. It has a harness and when ready can be converted to booster (w/ or w/out back). It is the Graco Nautilus. I feel 100% comfortable. If I had the cash I would have gone with a Britax for I LOVE that brand. But since I needed two, I went with this. I 100% recommend this! No questions!

I used the Graco Turbo Booster. It is from 30 to 100 lbs and 38 to 57 inches tall. I loved it. It was easy enough to transfer from one car to another and you only had to use your car's seat belt. the other nice thing about it is once they hit 40 lbs you can remove the back and it is just a booster. This is really nice once your child is 5-6 years old and doesn't want to sit in a "car seat". Anohter perk is you can pick them u for less that $40. You can also check with your local police station and they will give you recommendations for the seat that will best fit your needs. Good Luck

I just bought the Graco Nautilus - it's a five-point harness seat until the child is 65 lbs. then becomes a high-backed booster then a backless booster. It's only $179 and very highly rated.

Check it out I have 2 and I have very tall children my 3 yr old is 40" tall. I love it. this allows the child to be in the safest place longer "in the harness" for a more affordable price.

He is to small to put in a booster. Most states require 4 yrs AND 40 lbs, call your local police dept and find out what the law is in your state. The thing is a seat belt is all a booster uses and it's just not safe enough. He still needs the harness. I provided a link below. Look at the boosters that are also a carseat. With the high back.
