Hi ladies! I was wondering what booster seats you guys use and love. We are looking for one for our almost 4 year old son. He is getting too tall for his Britax Marathon, so we need to find something else. Has anyone tried the Britax booster seats?? If so, do you like them? We LOVE the Marathon and have NO complaints about it... I'm hoping to find the same in a booster seat :) Thanks in advance for your help!

If you haven't watched the video on youtube about a mom, her son and a car seat here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azgBhZfcqaQ i hope it works. Otherwise go to youtube and search for it. Then go and buy the britax regent (five point harness for older kids, not a booster seat). Good luck.

We adore the Britax Parkway boosters. Both my 6 yr old and 3 yr old are using them right now, and we actually have a total of four so that there's always one for each of the kids in each of our two cars.
The boosters are super easy to take in and out of the cars, the headrests are really nice and supportive for when the kids sleep in the car, and the price is great for a Britax.

Hi J. I had alot of questions about boosters seat too but I found out that if you call your local AAA office they have a child seat expert there ,they will help you.If you have AAA they will just replace the one you have for the one your child needs at not cost to you.

We too had all Britax carseats (Infant, Roundabout and Marathon), but when we moved to a booster, we really liked the Compass seats the best. Check them out at www.elitecarseats.com, they have free shipping, no tax, and a very informative review section. The seats are very comfortable, the kids love them, they come in lots of great colors, they adjust very easily for height, and an added bonus, they fold in half which is awesome for vacationing/plane travel.

My son just turned 5. I opted for the Britax Regent (22-80 pounds) rather than swtiching to a booster. It is referred to in the literature as "the cadillac of car seats"....? If you liked the Marathon, you'll love it. It's quite large, but feels much safer to me and I plan to keep him in it as long as I possibly can. Good luck.

Hi, my daughter turned 4 in December and wanted a 'big girl' seat because she was sort of outgrowing her Britax Marathon. i decided that the Regent would be the next step up for her-as well as we did need a second car seat for my husbands car-(finally! no more switching cars)he thought it was way too expensive for a booser seat but conceded when he realized that she will have to be in a car seat for a few more years. We all love it. The Regent is still a five point harness and very secure for them, and large enought for her head to have nice coverage if anything were to happen, with lots of room to grow. the only downside is that because it is larger (only by a few inches technically) it feels like it takes up more space-which in reality it dosent, the footprint is somewhat the same, it just dosent have the adjustable base like the Marathon. Which is a little bit of a downside if you take long trips and need to recline it more for sleeping. but at this age, I would have to pay her to take a nap anyways. . . .
hope this helps and good luck!

Hi J.,

I received the saddest e-mail last year about a woman losing her son, Kyle in a car accident when his seatbelt gave in a rollover accident. She highly recommended the Britax Regent and a second car seat- the name escapes me. Anyway, the Regent is a 5 point harness and can work for a child up to 80 lbs. Our 4 year old loves it and comments often about how comfy it is. We will be getting one for our second son soon. We were really impressed with everything we read about the Regent and when I went to purchase one last year, they were obviously popular because they were sold out on about 10 different online stores. It is a big seat- it looks like a mini wingback chair. Anyway- just putting in my 2 cents. Have a great day!!

I don't know what ones would be best, but maybe let him help pick it out, let him set in it and see if he likes it.
I seen that some have lights on them that stay on for 20m at a time, so he can read or play with something without having to use the big light!

We also used the marathon with our three children and were very happy with it. The Britax booster received good reviews and looked to be very safe. However, we did not go with it because when our two daughters sat in it, the sides around the head were too restricting and they couldn't see around them. Perhaps not a great reason for selecting a seat but it did make a difference. We chose the Graco which received great reviews from Consumer Reports. We have been happy with this choice.

We bought a Compass seat for my daughter after she outgrew her forward 5-point system. She really loves it and we like it because the back will adjust with her height, not just the headrest. It buckles with the car's seatbelt and is very easily moveable from one car to another. It is definitely not as expensive as the Britax and since it doesn't have the 5-point harness, it's more comfortable for her, and more easily adjustable around big coats. If you're worried about safety, contacting AAA like the other poster recommended is a good idea. And most cars' seatbelts are designed well enough to not give out in an accident. Seatbelt failure is the exception to the rule rather than the norm. Especially if you have a newer model car. Besides, if the seatbelt fails, and the carseat with a 5-point harness is secured to the car with it, the child strapped into the carseat is probably going to sustain severe injuries anyway when the carseat goes flying. If you're worried about that, check your manufacturer's website for any cautions or recalls. Good luck!

J. - I have a 4 year old & a 2 year old also. I'm a huge fan of the Britax car seats as well. My daughter (the 4 year old) has recently graduated to a booster. We got a Graco Turbo Booster. It's a booster with a back that is easily removable to convert to a backless booster. Right now she is using the back on it. It works very well, gives a good position for the seat belt & she can buckle in by herself. I would definitely recommend the Graco.
