I'm looking for parenting book suggestions that are helpful to moms and dads and good children's books to hype on the Maine Switch's family page. Have you read any good ones lately?

I ready more kids books than parenting books. Recent hits in our home:

A Case of the Stripes by David Shannon
This is the Van that Dad Cleaned
Skateboard Mom

I have read several great books for parents, my favorite being Buddha Never Raised Kids & Jesus Didn't Drive Carpool: Seven Principles for Parenting with Soul by Vickie Falcone. It was really down to earth and a few things in the book really helped. Also Preschool Confidential was a good one. And for special needs the Out of Sync Child and the Out of Sync Child has Fun and then The Elephant in the Playroom is excellent as well.

As far as children's books I have read soooo many I wouldn't know where to begin. Some lesser known books maybe for like the 5-8 range is The Wolves in the Walls by Neil Gaiman, I love Lauren Child books for the younger groups, Parts and More Parts... REad a really cute one today called What Elephant? I could go on and on...

I love "The Girlfriends' Guide" books by Vicki Iovine. They are very comical, and also so truthful. They are not just straight facts like "What to Expect When You're Expecting." Their is "A Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy, The First Year of Motherhood, the Toddler Years, to Getting You're Groove Back, and to Playdates and parties," ect. I love this author-these books are fun to read and full of good tips.
